Coming from the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 I have noticed a slight drop in wifi performance with my new prime. I know that's been universal for many while some have said it is just the wifi notifier and not a problem at all. It feels slightly slower than the galaxy 10.1. I've been searching for some sort of solution and have only found something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Amped-Wireles...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU1550689

Should it work? Any one tried one or am i wasting my time and there is no solution?

@effingspace: Great that this solution works for you, in your home, but what are you doing if you sit at Starbucks (example) and not really right underneath the router ?? Then your Wi-Fi receiption is as bad as it is on all other TFP 201. And don't tell me you are not leaving your home with your new Pad. I for my part have returned my TFP 201 and wait for the updated version.

I just ordered a range extender myself but not because of the Prime (it works fine for me) but for my BluRay player. It has a hard time getting signal for some odd reason. It'll be interesting to see if the Prime's performance on WiFi changes for me once I have the extender in place.

I just received my prim in the mail today. I've got full bars in house....no problems here.

I'm also using a Belkin router

I'm looking at putting my order on the prime this week. How big of a problem is the WiFi issue going to be if I'm only planning on using the device at home. I want to be able to view netflix iplayer etc. with no loss of quality.

I dont really noice it being bad i mean when i go outside for a smoke it doesnt get that great of connection but it works at full bars everywhere else in my house

I use Slingbox in HD quality on my Prime all over the house and the wifi is great. It shows about 2 bars on the wifi meter in the lower right hand corner, in the farest room of my house.

i've had no problems outside of my house with wifi

Here's the problem with all of the primes currently shipping. There are 3 versions, but no changes at all to the hardware. If you are getting an internet signal in your house, whether it's 1 bar or 4 bars, just by looking at the bars you can't know what the prime is transmitting at. For instance, I am on 2 bars right now on channel 2. There is one other router in my range on channel 6. However, when I press the wifi button in lower right corner, and then press again on the name of my router in the pop up box, and once again in the wifi settings menu, my current "router" is transmitting at 19Mbs. I am exactly 12 feet from the "router" (which happens to be my Sprint Epic 4G Touch using Sprint's Hotspot.) No walls are in between us. There are also no Microwaves or Radios in the house on. No BT (although that is an entirely different problem as it dips to 2Mbs). The Wifi fluctuates between 19 and 39Mbs.

Now here's the thing: I am not knocking ANYONE on here. If you have a perfect PRIME then awesome! Good for you! (I am NOT being sarcastic). I really wish I was in your shoes.

If your internet streams well to your prime - it shouldn't matter. If you can maintain a high Mbs with your connection to your router, even BETTER! If you start walking through your house or building and you lose connection, or you use wifi analyzer and see your Prime dropping to 2Mbs or 1Mbs, good luck. I can walk about 20-30 feet from the E4GT and it drops to 5Mbs. I can still use my internet but it slows down considerably. I typically get 19-26Mbs upstairs using the original Transformer with the same Epic 4G touch AND my wimax is usually 8-10Mb/s so I can't complain there.

The real issue (for me) is because I do not have the dock yet, I use an Apple BT keyboard and Logitech VX470 BT Android mouse. When I use the Mouse, the tablet becomes unusable and drops the internet connection off. There is no point. I am able to use the Apple BT keyboard but of course the connection drops lower. So for me, there is no point if I want to watch Netflix and use the BT mouse, whether or not I have the keyboard dock. Perhaps USB nano receiver (if it worked - i'm not sure it does) but as users - we shouldn't have to go and purchase "extended router wifi range" or buy a USB nano receiver mouse just to use our tablet. It's ridiculous.

Aestethically speaking, it looks fabulous. But let's be honest - who wouldn't want this tablet if the wifi range was good past 10, 20, 30 feet? I've had many tablets - from other manufacturers as well, and they ALL got much better range. If the better range and the issues with BT didn't exist because of the back (oh yeah, GPS too and don't say it's an issue when you are using your tablet as a passenger in the car and your gf/wife asks for the number of the closest JoAnn fabrics and you give her the number of the one in South Carolina because your tablet can't recognize you are in Pittsburgh) then we would mostly all want plastic or any reasonable back to the current. Yes the current feels sexy and smooth and looks awesome. But there are real issues here. if you are ok with the issues, don't worry about returning it. But NO user should have to go out and get an extended range router unless you feel the need to buy one for starbucks too. Asus needs to address this, one way or another, and it's just my belief that I'm holding out for Asus to do this before returning this for a full refund and utter letdown from Asus across the board - if they can't manage this tablet which has been SO hyped from EVERY blog/site that i've read - then they won't get my money for the ultrabooks or any laptop/notebook/windows 8 tablet = ever again.

Anandtech did a really good explanation of the current crop of problems - he essentially had to disconnect every router or transmission device in his house - he even went so far as to disconnect everything except his Airplay (which is ironic) and router - and only after literally disconnecting everything was he able to connect at full speeds at his router - but then the distance was also severely cut. If i can find the link I will post it here.

My wifi on my Prime (this being my 3rd one, 1st one rebooted constantly, 2nd one had bad backlight leaks and black bars across the display from time to time and the wifi performance was bad bad bad)...

I called Asus because my 3rd one the wifi performance isn't up the par of any other device I have on the network. It's about 1/4 speed of anything else... which bugs me a lot. Plus a minor backlight bleed.

The person told me that this is a known issue and that I should RMA it back to Asus and it can take 10-14 days to return. When I asked him what they would do to fix it, he said there is a hardware upgrade they perform on it... a different back plate on it (although it'd look the same) along with better wifi antennas etc. He also said the back light bleed would be fixed too.

So I'm going to probably call them today at work and have them email me the RMA information and get it shipped back. As much as I love this tablet, I think I have to send it back to get fixed... it's an expensive gadget that I would like to work 100% correctly.

I would do this in a heartbeat. But I'm cautious until I hear positive stories from other people with this and see how they were treated with CS and if their prime is transmitting better.

I think from the look around this forum, we can see its not just a wifi issue. Or Bluetooth. Or GPS. Or screen not glued on properly. Or proprietary connector plug loose it falls apart. Or black lines across the screen. Or screen going haywire flashing with lines across the screen. Or serial number unknown so users can't upgrade to ICS. Or dock and tablet discharging at same time. Its all of these things, and more probably. Thank God no tablet so far has ALL of these issues. These tablet would disappear faster than Fusion Garage's website, and nit because people would buy it.

I'm really hoping you or other users would report back and let us know of the developments of this. Please. There has to be a solution to all of these problems, which doesn't require to take Wifi/BT/GPS off of Asus' site.

I'm with you on that one. Considering this is my 3rd one... it's kind of my last straw. I like it a lot but for the money paid, it needs to work flawlessly for the most part in my opinion. I've given it a lot of thought and I maybe just return it until a completed product is released. Story of my life... buying tech gadgets on first gen and dealing with the hiccups. I don't think I'm going to with this one... I have 7 days to return it, but I think it'll go back after 2. :-(
