Wife wants a smart phone. Good for her.

I have a GS3, she wants a new phone when hers is up-gradable in July.
Now it's a matter of which one. She has a non-smart flip phone now, and may not like one the size of a GS3.
So, the question is, which one to get her?

Android JB, of course. Large enough screen to actually see it.
And Verizon, of course.

all of the android devices that are worth getting IMO are as big as the GS3. I would go with the GS4 but if that is too big, then go with the iPhone 5 or wait for the iPhone 5S.

Go to a Verizon store and let her decide on phone size / comfort. Help her with her decision regarding technical issues. If you make the decision for her and she doesn't end up liking the phone you're in trouble. Of course if she picks a phone herself that she doesn't like then she may blame you for not helping enough... ;) Good luck!

This seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I intend on her deciding, but she trusts my judgement. She wants me to look at a few.
We don't do anything without discussing it. Has worked for 45 years.

I'm looking at the Strat II and have been reading the thread at http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-stratosphere/254063-jelly-bean-update-stratosphere-ii.html . Seems for the most part an OK phone.
I'll ask if she wants a slide-out KBd, or not. Maybe the LG Lucid 2 if she wants a bit larger screen. I'll check out a couple threads on it.
The LG Spectrum and HTC Droid DNA are definitely too large.

EDIT: Maybe not he Lucid. There aren't any threads about it. Lol

I wouldn't rule out larger phones. my wife had a samsung focus. About the size of an iphone 4. She wanted a new phone and it didnt matter the os. I had a htc one x plus to give her and she rejected it because it was to big. after a while it grew on her and now she loves the phone. Id suggest to get a good phone that works well and put size after that.

Well, if she does want a larger phone, I'll just transfer my GS3 to her, and get a GS4 for myself.
That'll work great.
Win win all around.

Will Verizon do that?

I've done this a few times with the kids. I think as long as your plan and upgrade status allow then its possible. Can even do it online. As for a possible phone, my wife really likes her Note II with its screen size and S Pen.

Yes, you will just need to get a new SIM card for the GS3. Get it for free at the verizon store or order one online for free.

A Z10 won't be overly complicated for her & still a solid choice.
It's currently my primary "non-Android" backup replacing my iPhone 5.

The S4 is about the same size as the S3 despite having a larger screen. If she wants to go smaller, maybe try the motorola razr m with 4.3" qHD screen.

The razr hd/Maxx hd is a good choice. It feels about as big as the 4.3" smartphones due to the onscreen buttons.

I think the Nexus 4 is good for her since the GS3 isn't a good size for her

Seeing that this is a Verizon Galaxy s3 forum, that isn't an option at least not in Verizon

Thank you for that. :)
Yes. Verizon, and android only, please.

My wife has enjoyed the droid line. She has had a droid 2, 3, and is now on the 4. If she likes a keyboard that's the way to go.

As far as a non keyboard, smaller screen not sure what to recommend. Gs3 is really a nice phone and very user friendly for novices. Any of the cheap phones, lucid and such won't have jellybean and the ui seems clunky for people not accustomed to fiddling with phones. Trust me, I have been through it with my wife.
