Recently my phone began using battery at an alarming rate. I noticed that WIFI indicator shows up and down activity continually, even though phone is not in use.

I have tried:

1) Resetting Settings to Factory Default

2) Reformatting Phone

3) Reformatting SD Card

4) Removing SD Card

5) Reformatting phone and NOT downloading any backed up APPS or Contacts

Results all the same. As soon as wifi is turned on it is continuously active. Please Note: To be clear, there is no problem when phone is on verizon network - only when wifi is turned on.

Can Anyone Help??? I am at my wits end!![

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Wi-fi, tap Menu, then Advanced, and turn off "Scanning always available," and see if that helps.

Thanks....Yes....Tried that too! And I have shout down as many apps as I dare.

Thanks for the thought!

It would help to actually see some battery stats. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).
