WiFi calling not available for Verizon on Note5?

Saw an article that Verizon will be releasing an update, giving certain phones (Galaxy S6, S6 edge) the ability to make wifi calls, when the signal is weak.

Just wondering why the Note5 (and S6 Edge Plus, for that matter) won't receive this feature???

"Verizon announced Friday it would it would push out a software update on December 8 that will allow owners of Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to make and receive calls using a Wi-Fi network. The feature is useful whenever customers find themselves in an area with weak or no carrier coverage"

True verizon wants you to think that but the reality is different than the Corporate fantasy world that verizon execs live in. There are a few places where Verizon does not reach here in the Pacific Northwest. If a WiFi signal is available than we can still connect. Question is, will the signal hand off between WiFi and the towers?
I happen to use Comcast for internet. With Xfinity hot spots springing up all over, WiFi could help in areas with spotty or nonexistent cell phone coverage.

Most of us are aware of that. The original comment was said tongue in cheek. My response was to that. Contrary to Verizon's implied ads coverage IS NOT everywhere, and yes the map says otherwise. Sometimes a little humor at the expense of Big Red is justified. The comment made by Nakrohtap and parts of my response were in jest. (sort of)

My son attends a school which is in the canyons.

His campus is much lower then the parking area where I come to pick him up, and the service when he's on campus is terrible! (Once you walk up the stairs and get to the pick up area, service is fine)

He generally waits to hear that I'm on his campus to pick him up in the school library, which has wifi. In fact, his entire campus has wifi, so wifi dialing would be great!

He happens to have the S6 edge, and got the update yesterday.

I think this is a common scenario where WiFi calling can help. Canyons can be natural (in this case), or artificial (basements, buildings with structural interference, saturated cell towers, fringe coverage areas, etc.).

Since Verizon is behind on the Security Updates I would not be surprised it the Security Updates and WiFi calling come out together some time in Jan.
