Hi all:

I can't find this issue through searching, so I'm trying a post. When I'm at work (with all it's mega security), my S5 WiFi gets into this mode where the WiFi signal is good, it is connected (to our internal wireless network) , but I can't sync accounts or connect to a web site (even internal ones). Usually it works OK; I don't know what throws it into this annoying mode. Re-booting the phone solves the problem. My IT group is puzzled. Any other WiFI access point is just fine. i thought it might be a DNS issue, but using the raw IP number doesn't help. Verizon swapped the phone for me with no improvement. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thx,
John

Is there some sort of authentication on your WiFi? You could try going in and out of Airplane mode, too... sounds to me like there's a problem with the IP lease. Your device might be stuck with a previously leased address, which is why rebooting would solve it (it forces it to renew the lease). I can't remember if there's an option to renew the lease on the IP in the Advanced WiFi options though.

I would also make sure that WiFi is not set to turn off when the device is on standby.

I am having this exact issue at work. Only seems to be me since I'm the only one with Verizon S5 that I know of in our office. What's strange is that we have another building across the street and it works perfectly fine there, so my guess is it's something with a particular wifi access point in my case.

By the way, the app wifi fixer seems to alleviate the problem (instead of having to reboot), but it sucks up quite a bit of battery in the process so I don't use it all the time. Might be worth a try though to see if it works for you.

The previously leased address is an interesting idea. I'll check it out. Thanks!

I'll give that a try. Thanks!
