Until fairly recently I could start my Nexus 5
(Android 6.0.1 security patch level 6/1/2016)
in the morning and it would automatically connect to the house WIFI
(Signal strength excellent, link speed 72 mps, frequency 2.4, radio type 802.11n).
Now it no longer does that. I connect to ATT, my provider. I go to settings WIFI and choose my listed SSID. I type in the requested password and hit connect. Nothing happens. The connected icon fails to appear. I can repeat this 10 times. Finally I get a connection only to have it disappear within a minute. Eventually, if I am patient enough I do get it to connect and hold. This is painful enough that I am about to give up on WIFI.
I have seen in another thread that the router might be a problem. I am within 3 feet of the router when I am trying to connect. I have zero experience with managing routers and am hesitant to try so I thought I would try my husband's phone (Samsung Tracfone). Upon starting, it connected immediately and stayed connected. No request for password. It just worked. So I figure the problem is with the Nexus 5. Does that seem a rational conclusion?
How to fix? All help appreciated.
Thanks
