I work at a school's IT department and my phone is connected to at a 200 megabit internet connection and I swear - sometimes Verizon 3G is quicker... Anyone else experience this?

At home it never seems to connect to my actiontec router unless I go into the wifi prefs - not sure why this works.

N1 never had any of these issue.

I don't know about you, but I know that my school had really slow wireless connections. I assume it was due to the massive amount of people watching Youtube and checking up on their farms.

There was another thread here somewhere where people talked about how the DX only manages to get 15Mbps connections (which I think is nothing to scoff at). Try running some speed tests to compare the connections speeds. Do one with 3G at your school, one with WiFi at your school, one with 3G at your home, and one with WiFi at your home. That will give a good basis of whether there is performance issues based on network location.

As for not connecting automatically. Did you set it to remember that router? Sometimes mine takes a bit to connect if I have the phone in sleep mode then walk within range of my router. Usually up to a minute from taking it out of sleep mode if it hasn't been connected.

I also have an actiontec router and while I don't have any problems with connecting, I too have noticed the performance is abysmal. Running speedtest is fine, caps out around 15mbps down 4mbps up (I have 25/5 FiOS) but its when it comes to actually downloading files through the web browser that bothers me. A 15MB file which should take <6 seconds to download ends up taking 2 minutes. Transfer speeds are around 100-150KB a second. It happens with any site or server I connect to. Also odd is that the download starts off fast, usually 500-700KB a sec then slows to 3G speeds within what seems like 5 seconds. Very strange. I just think there's something really wrong with the wireless adapter in these phones...

Forgot to mention - this was at 7am after the term is out - there are like 5 hosts connected to the entire network according to the management console :/.

I just hope that the WIFI issues are fixed with the next update. Between this and other Android Forums it is obvious there is a problem. I was at Starbucks yesterday and connected to over the air free WIFI and couldn't get it to work. I am not a techy like most people here and just need it to work with out a lot of jargon. One of the few things my storm did well was good WIFI reception. Love my X though and can't imagine my life with RIM again.
