Hi,
Wifi direct is available with WiFi in Samsung Google Nexus. However, when I select an image or video, I am unable to see this option for sharing. Can anyone help me on this?

As mentioned above, my mobile Samsung Google Nexus is now running on Android 4.2.2 and am trying to connect with S3, Note2 and Tab7

Samsung installs it's own skins over stock Android. I wonder if that is causing a problem. Can you connect with another Google Nexus or nexus 4?

I am thinking the same thing based on what I have read in other threads.

This is the Samsung GALAXY Nexus thread. Yours sounds like a different phone perhaps.

Edit: can't find any record of a Samsung Google Nexus so I think you must mean Galaxy Nexus. If so, it is stock android. Samsung didn't add anything. Verizon did though if you have them (which you must if you are on 4.2.2).

Sent from my totally awesome Sprint Galaxy Nexus, even if I don't know all its secrets yet.

When people say they have a "Google Nexus" they usually mean that they have a Galaxy Nexus purchased through the Play Store directly from Google. It says "Google" on the back of it. No carrier branding.

He he in the right forum, though his problem may have to do with the devices he is trying to connect to.

Verizon did though if you have them (which you must if you are on 4.2.2).

I have the stock Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play Store and have been on 4.2.2 for several months. Verizon just updated last month.

Samsung's Touchwiz on top of Android uses WiFi Direct (rebranded as S-Beam) instead of Android Beam. Android Beam uses Bluetooth to transfer data. S-Beam uses WiFi Direct.

Both of them use Near Field Communication (NFC) to initiate the process. However, the two transfer methods are not compatible with each other. You can't start a beaming transmission with bluetooth on your Galaxy Nexus and expect a Galaxy S3 to accept the transmission with WiFi Direct.

Unfortunately, Samsung's S-Beam only works with other Touchwiz devices.

You can get an app from the Play Store to add WiFi Direct beaming to non-Touchwiz devices:

Okay, but either way, Samsung didn't add anything. They are stock Android phones.

I can not WAIT for Sprint to upgrade to 4.2.2. 4.2.1 is SO buggy.

See Insp_Gadget's response above yours, which explains it perfectly. We are talking about the devices the user is trying to connect to, not the stock Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus he has.

I hope to see Google correct this. No reason to use BT for Beam, when the phones are capable of Wifi direct. Nice app(SuperBeam) finally makes transferring big files between Nexi, not a PITA!
