wifi hotspot doesn't work

I tried connecting two devices but failed.... it simply doesn't work... i restarted all three devices and tried again... but failed... both devices got connected to my friend's moto g... any idea why it is creating problem with moto x 2nd gen(android lollipop 5.0 out of the box)??

First, does your data plan allow for the usage of the hotspot? Some carriers require you to pay an extra fee to activate the hotspot.

Second, have you gone through the process of setting up the hotspot? Did you give it an SSID, and set up a password?

Well what version of the Moto X do you have? Carrier branded or PE? If its PE it should work with no issues right out of the box! mine is working. (We have the att share program. It does allow hotspot.)

It could be a configuration issue. I am using a Pure Edition on T-Mobile and mobile hotspot works very well.
