Wifi Hotspot rooting question

I know this question may not be in the right place but I am curious if it is possible to activate the hotspot through rooting and still keep HTC Sense.

Please bare in mind that I am totally new to all things hacking and rooting, and excuse my ignorance.

Yes. Root just gives you more permissions to change more things and allows certain apps to run.

I don't think the wifi hotspot would work because it needs to be provisioned. The wifi tether app could work, but likely it would only currently allow 3G tether (which is probably fine for most). There's also the possibility that it won't work at all. I have it on my hero and the old 1.6 version works, and the 2.0+ version require you to toggle between airplane mode to work.
