My wifes fascinate will connect to my router and I can see that it has an IP on my router. When I try to surf the web on the phone it gets nothing. And if I type in the admin IP of my router it times out. Mac filtering is not turned on and it is an open network. Any one having this problem or have suggestions? I think this started happening after the update.....

Have you "forgot" the connection on your phone and tried readding it?

If so, when you're connected, go to menu/settings/wireless & networks/wifi settings and click the wifi connection.

Does it show "connected" and is there an IP addresses assigned?

If all else fails, you could try assigning a static IP address..

Yes to all..... manual didn't work either

In the wifi settings menu under menu/advanced did you accidentally assigned a proxy or port?

What type of router are you using?
Make, model, 802.11x/x/x?
Do you have any issues on other wireless devices?

I hate routers. They always give me fits. I now have the verizon dsl modem we the router built in and love it.

I'm having the same issue with my Netgear WNDR-3700

So the phone is being assigned an IP address, but you can't get online.
Maybe there's a problem with the phone receiving the DNS server address.
However, you said that even when entering the gateway IP it timed out.
Hmmm..

My fascinate won't connect to my router, its a secure network. I put on the key, it times out "obtaining address" and just loops trying to get an address. Not sure why it wont connect. Ive got 2pc's and a laptop that connect np so seems to be something with the phone. Does the SF have wifi issues? Not sure what to do other than take the phone to vzw to see if the wifi is bad on the phone

Does the SF have wifi issues?

I think this may be an isolated issue.
I've connected to several wifi networks with absolutely no problems.
I have 3 friends with this phone and I know they all connect to their home wifi and mine when they're here.

I know this isn't really helpful but WIFI has worked perfectly on my Fascinate both before and after updating and before and after rooting. I've used multiple access points and never had an issue.

1) Reboot the router if you haven't already.
2) Look at the router logs for messages related to your phone. These logs are usually very informative.
3) If necessary, for troubleshooting purposes, disable all security settings on the router, to eliminate the possibility that something is blocking it. I know you said it's an open network, with Mac filtering turned off, but also disable encryption or any other settings that filter by IP.

on an interesting note, i stopped by the vzw store today and was able to connect my phone to there mifi/wifi connect np so that tells me the phone itself is fine. time to call up verizon fios support :)

really stupid ? but have you increased the # of available users to access the wifi from 4 to like 10?
I had to with 4 computers, my DINC and two Ipod touches.
Also is your router set to bridge?

Stupider still (happened to me), but when I set up wifi on my wife's Droid X the copy/paste app (forget which one it was) I was using to put in my key was inserting a couple of spaces that I didn't see at first because I use a long non-alphanumeric sting.
