WiFi Issues

I've had the Honor 8 for a few weeks with no issues. Tonight I'm having issues connected to WiFi. I'm about 2 feet from the router and things are loading either real slow or not at all.
Speed test is all over the place and most of time it fails to upload anything during test. I have an iPhone and that is testing out fine with no issues.
I've done every trick in the book, reset phone, hard reset, reset router, forgot WiFi network and rejoined, switched airplane mode on/off, etc.
I did use airplane mode for the first time yesterday but WiFi was working afterwords.
Anyone else have this issue?

Update: when the phone is a foot away from router it works fine. 3 feet or more and nothing.
Also tried switching to the 2.4 band on the router and still nothing.

Judging from your description it sounds like the internal antenna the problem. It's basically just a wire that extends along one side of your phone so maybe it became disconnected from the motherboard, which account for why you can get a WiFi connection holding your phone close to your router but not when you're farther away.Honor8_antenna.jpg
The pic is taken from this Honor 8 teardown site:

Not very familiar with Huawei phones but most Samsung phones just have a press-fit connector for the antennas. Looking at the above pic it 'appears' that maybe it instead is using a solder joint.
A lot of phones use a single antenna for both WiFi and Bluetooth, perhaps you're also having issues with Bluetooth that started around the same time as this WiFi connectivity issue?

I just picked up a Motorola Moto z Play unlocked and tested the WiFi speeds next to each other in 4 different locations in my house and the Moto z Play was consistently about 8 to 10 MB higher on download speeds and about 5 MB higher on uploads. So maybe it is the antenna Huawei uses in the Honor 8. It's still good enough though.

I did a factory reset this morning( I've been holding out on doing this as this phone has so much bloatware initially) and it seems as the wifi is back.
The clock was messed up showing one hour ahead after the reset but after toggling Auto date/time it looks to be back to normal.
Had really good things to say about this phone coming from Nexus devices but now im not sure.
