WIFI signal strength icon flaky

Had The phone 1 day.

Android 2.2.2. Kernal 2.6.32.9 Build # ZV5.41C0E845.

Stock ROM

I have not activated with VM.

WIFI icon signal strength reads no bars or .5 bars when awake. 5 When asleep (locked). I am 3 feet away from Router.

I have moved around house and Bars come and go but settle to .5 or none.

A check under WIFI settings for phone indicates what I believe is proper strength (EXCELLENT to Good throughout house) regardless of Bars.

No issues conecting to web, downloading, running speed test etc.

Downloaded WIFI ANALYZER app. It indicates what I believe is proper strength while moving around house again regardless of bars.

Given this, is the stock WIFI strength indicator ICON flakeyness a known issue? I never trust these indicators on my Laptops anyway.

I did see mention GOOGLeing that the method this indicator uses to measure strength may have changed over time.

Any feedback is appreciated (well, not ANY feedback ). Just a nit that's bothering me.

Have you tried forgetting all known networks and then rebooting?

I had not done that.

Now I have (I have to "Forget" them one at a time, correct?)

No difference unfortunately.
