My Wifi has become much worse since the update. My phones going back the minute Walmart gets more in. I cant use a device thats wifi is faulty and not working. 99% of the time it connects then disconnects right after. Hell with that **** and no way in hell am I going to mess around with my router settings just to connect to wifi on my phone. No way in hell should we have to do that. To me, thats terrible programming on moto's part. Not once has my WiFi on my Inc done this bullcrap.

I was also having trouble with my wifi but got such great 3g didnt really care. I read a post tonight where someone said they went from 802.11n to g. Well after finally getting in to my router, I was in mixed mode and I switched it down. My wifi is great! 5 bars solid signal so far. fast internet search also! I have a d-link 655 and I was using g for my tivo so as long as my laptop is still ok, I think this will work!

I know this is probably a stupid question, but here goes anyway. My DX isn't here yet but I'm trying to get things ready to set it up when it does. I have managed to misplace the paper I wrote my wireless network security key on and I've forgotten where to look on the computer to find it. I know in Dec when I added a wireless printer that I found it and I'm hoping that it wasn't in the Live One Care program since they discontinued that and I had to uninstall it. Does anyone have any idea where I might find the security key on the computer?

I seem to have figured out my WiFi issue. I have a D-Link DIR-615. The following settings WORK!!

WPA + WPA2 Personal
802.11g only (mixed does NOT work)
TKIP
Mac Filtering OFF

Its terrible that we really need to change settings to get this to work. I hope we get an update soon so that 802.11n works.

I would hope that Froyo will allow N to be used. Rumor is Froyo will be hitting VZW's heavy hitters, Droid X, Droid Incredible and Droid, August 6th.

Does anyone have 802.11n working reliably? Luckily I have 2 routers, my FIOS 802.11g and a DIR-655 802.11n router and run them both in the house. I've got a smattering of 802.11 devices, but only a couple N devices.

Here's what I found:

If I put the Droid X on the Actiontec at 802.11g it will work perfectly.
If the DX is the only thing on the DIR-655 N router that is using N it will work fine.

The minute my MacBook Pro connects to the N network the DX stops working on WiFi. It sees the signal but all communications stop. Needs a WiFi off/on or connect to the g network to make it work.

So for those that got N to work, what router are you using and do you have other N devices?

I have a NETGEAR Rangemax Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNDR3700), and I'm having zero issues. I've turned encryption off, MAC address filtering turned on, and broadcast SSID off. I have about 5 devices connected to it at any given time.

I received a replacement phone yesterday due to poor reception and wifi issues unfortunately the new phone fixed nothing so I was back to square one. I got both the old and new phones to show in the notification bar that they was staying connected but pulling up my attached devices on my router proved otherwise. The connection was dropping from the router but the wifi notification was showing it was connected. Long story short I read someone used "wifi fixer" and it solved their problem, I had used this before but decided to try it again as they said it didn't make a change till after a reboot. Knock on wood it has been a little over 24 hours (23 hours more than my record) and my wifi is holding on. I have seen Wifi Fixer pop up in the notifications saying it was restarting but when I have went to use it it has worked everytime and stayed strong. If you have been pulling your hair out over wifi it is worth the download to give it a shot and it's free.

So now I have to download an app to fix an issue with the phone? That's a little ridiculous don't you think?

Everyone with WiFi issues, we need to report this to Motorola. Running an app to fix a fundamental flaw with the phone is INSANE!!!!!

Be patient. It will probably be fixed in the Froyo update. Besides, it's a software issue so we know it CAN be fixed... unlike certain other antennae issues.

So far the biggest problems appear to be with routers that are configured in mixed mode and/or using encryption stronger than WEP. What troubles me is the number of routers that have been reported and the inconsistent results from one router to the next.

Im trying wifi fixer, seems good so far. I usually only get like fifteen minutes of solid connection, been going for an hour straight now. Its crazy i have a droid 1, iPod, iPad, Wii, PS3, 360, DSi and two laptops running off this router in mixed b/g/n mode with no problems at all.

We hope it's a software issue. The thing that bugs me is that not securing your wireless is not an option. And unless we let Motorola know about it they may think everything is OK.

My only comment on the antenna issue is that it's way overblown by a small percentage of users. Much like most "issues" brought up by the media or the blogosphere.

So how do you report it to Motorola.. Reporting issues to Verizon seems to do jack I learned that from my Storm 1

Wouldn't Wifi be an Android software issue not Motorola? I would think it would be a core software issue.

I have tried everything to get my Droid X to connect to my home wireless network. I am so frustrated.

We have a Linksys WRT54GS rev 1.0 running firmware v 4.71.4 - which is the last FW version that can be safely loaded on this hardware revision. I have turned off the encryption, publish SSID, taken it out of mixed mode - trying both B and G only. Every single time, I can connect to the network and get an internal IP address. However whenever I try to run any app that requires data it just hangs.

Just to make sure that the phone works, I took it to my in-laws house and connected it to their D-LINK DIR-685 and it worked just fine. It has to be that it isn't communicating with my router that has done just fine for me over the past 6 years. I don't have any N devices - so up until this point I haven't seen a need to upgrade. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that buying a phone would cause me to want to buy a new router....

Should I be patient and see if Motorola fixes this or just spend the $$ to upgrade.

I would wait since Froyo is supposed to be out next week. That might fix the Wifi issue.
