as the subject says, it just sits at "obtaining address" till it times out. any suggestions? im not rooted. all settings are stock.

Thanks

I didn't have a problem with my fascinate like this, but did with my blackberry. After stressing like crazy, I learned that the you're of security on the router was a major cause (other than being a POS blackberry). Changed my WEP security to a WPA/WPA2. Couldn't keep the bb connected, but since getting the fascinate, haven't had a problem. Try doing that.

My Fascinate wouldn't connect until I used caps instead of lower case for the pass phrase.

Make sure if you have MAC filtering on that you added the MAC address of your Facscinate.

I use WPA2 at my jobsite and have 0 issue connecting, i would suggest a reboot of the wireless access point and maybe even checking to check its config and see if mac filtering is enabled, if so this will prevent an IP address from being obtained.

I had to set up my router and add my phone in (since I have Mac Filtering on). Every once in a while it won't connect. I just reboot my router and then I get my connection back. I know it's not the phone because the same thing happens to my desktop in my room.

I'm guessing it's an IP address conflict (2 different devices get assigned the same IP address by your router). I finally configure my laptop with a static IP and my problems have gone away.

My suggestion would be to post more information, so that we could help. :)

For example, lets start by clearing up what exactly a "secure router" means in your particular instance. Does that mean WPA/2, Cisco LEAP/RADIUS, WEP, etc.. As others mentioned, what else is going on.. MAC Address filtering, etc...

I have similar problem.
I purchased Asus EeePad Transformer (used) from someone and tried to connect to my secured router. Failed. It read, disabled secured with wpa/wpa2. Tried many time but did not work. Asus tablet has genuine Android 3.1 on it.
My secured router is secured using WPA2 with "passphase".
Then I bought a NEW Tablet (not a well known brand) with Android 2.3 and tried to connect to the same secured router with same settings. Worked without any issue.
Recently I bought a used Samsung Galaxy tab from someone. Tried to conenct to the secured router but failed. Galaxy tab has genuine Android 3.1 on it.

Is the problem related to 3.1 or there is something else I should do (but its working on another tablet)?

Another difference is that it worked on a brand new tablet but failed on two tablets that I bought from someone (but both of these tablets have original Android 3.1 on them). Should I apply factory reset?
