Will a HTC EVO 3D Rom work for root purposes?

I'm following a root guide for mac osx and I'm confused about the roms listed on ClockworkMod ROM Manager - Recoveries

I see a HTC EVO 3D and a HTC EVO (GSM). There is no HTC EVO V listed. I'm wondering if one or either of the two will work in the rooting process? FYI extreme beginner over here, I apologize in advance if this is the wrong section or glaringly obvious.

You don't need a rom if you only want to root.
