will a kitkat 4.4.2 update and mess up when updates 4.4.4

hi I was wondering if I root my moto g if the update is soon to be rolled out if that can somehow hurt or mess up my rooting? how does that work when an update to the android os comes out

It deletes your root. You just need to re flash the root app your using.

I thought that if you unlocked your bootloader then you no longer get ota updates. Isn't that what they say when you get the unlock code?
