Will Costco have Razr Maxx on 1-26?

Interestingly, Costco just added the Droid 4 to their website. I assume/hope that the Maxx will be added shortly....

I just called CostCo in Chicago suburb, they aid they will be carrying them but Verizon or Motorola are out of stock. So they are waiting.

I got tired of waiting for Costco, so I ordered my Maxx from Amazon Wireless for $229, no sales tax (which is usually a big chunk of change for cell phones, since they tax you on the actual retail price, not the discounted store price). Activation was easy, and they threw in a car charger for free. The main thing I'm missing is Costco's return policy, but after doing my research, I was pretty sure I'd be keeping this baby. I know Costco was offering a free dock with the original Razr, but I wonder if they're still planning to do that with the Maxx, considering it's now the most expensive flagship phone for Verizon.

You are right about no sales tax (in most states, there is tax in a select few depending on different factors), but you are off on the sales tax, as what you describe is 100% illegal. If you go to a car dealer, haggle the price of a $50k car down to $40k, they can't charge you tax on the $50k. Its called a SALES tax because its a tax on the SALE price. Just like a dept store doesn't charge you tax on the MSRP of an item during a sale, you won't pay more tax on a phone than what you purchase it for. That's called tax fraud, and is illegal.

I think what you mean is after rebates are reflected. Rebates (even in-store ones), depending on the state and your state's tax laws, are not considered to be part of the 'sale price.' They are considered a kick-back/credit from the sale, so do not count toward a tax reduction (as you're technically buying a phone for, say, $200, in order to get $50 back because of that purchase). In that case, you are correct. But, just wanted to clarify, as they way you worded it made it seem like you buy the phone in-store for $300 and pay tax on a $750 phone.

checked with costco again and still not in their system. droid 4 is. my 90 days is almost up and was hoping to get the maxx. now i don't know what to do.

Sorry have not been here a while. I was only able to save 30 bucks from costo they charged me 269.00. Plus you can only have it home delivered. I went to the glen burnie store here in MD.

how is it that one costco is able to order it while other costo aren't? keep going back and they say it's not in their system. which system did they look into?

Remember that it isn't actually Costco, but some affiliate that is able to set up a kiosk in Costco. In the Silicon Valley, it's Wireless Associates or something like that. So it probably depends on the individual wireless retailer.

oh, i thought since it was on the costco site that they were part of costco.

Any chance you could scan your receipt, and black out your personal info? Lots of folks on here would love to get ahold off one of these from Costco. If we had a copy of a receipt our local Costco should be able to order one!
