Will google really wait till October 2018 to replace the screen?

Medium level here and the screen is great. Not anything bad to need at all. Have always disliked Samsung's oversaturated colors anyway. These more natural colors are pleasing to my eyes. Blue shift is only noticed on white backgrounds, which is a non issue for me.

I replaced my October build XL 2 today with a late November (30) build one, and there are significant differences hardware wise. This isn't just true of the screen, which is leaps ahead in my view, but even items like the vibration engine are far better and feel higher quality. There is a completely different feel to this vibration engine/haptic feedback.

And I've had a early and late build side by side with no difference in anything.

The entry level XL is $850, the iPhone X with the same amount of internal memory is $1000.

That makes this phone worth it to me. Expensive? Yes. But worth it.

I want nothing to do with an iPhoneX or iPhonE anything for that matter - and I am in no hurry to go back to Samsung either. I fail to see anything that Samsung does that makes the Note 8 worth my $950 more so than the Pixel 2 XL. A stylus I'll never use? Option to go cartoon color mode? Not for me either

What makes those phones worth their price to you?

I'd rather have "cartoon mode" over crappy screen

So return your pixel and get a Samsung.

I've had two Pixel 2 XL and both had great screens. No issues in low brightness in videos or any graininess. One phone had more blue shift than the other, of which neither was visible in day to day usage. The high rez screen on this thing is pretty damn good actually.

I already have one

Folks, I own both phones. I have a newer build and better version of the XL 2. Instead of arguing about this, we ought to be grateful that we have some amazing choices in 2017. These are both awesome phones. I'm going to stick with the XL 2 because to me as a cyber-security exec, the monthly security updates are a must have. Otherwise, because I first purchased the Note, I would have held on to it since it's a wonderful phone too. Those slamming it as crap are wrong just as those slamming the XL 2 are. Both are excellent.
