Will it work on AT&T LTE Network?

This is pretty ridiculous.

I'm on ATT postpaid. Activated my account about 5 months ago with my N4.

Called ATT today, explained I had an N5 stuck on HSPA and wanted my line provisioned for LTE. They took my MEID and told me to reboot the phone and I was all set.

Still stuck on HSPA, I went onto chat support which was utterly useless. They pretty much said I was unsupported using an unlocked phone and that was the problem.

So at this point I can drive to an ATT store and try requesting a new sim and try to get things working that way...or I can try getting someone else's ATT LTE device, put my sim in their phone, and contact ATT with the "new" MEID, have them swap my account, and then put it back in my N5?

That's silly. I'll do it of course, but...wow.

Crazy too that some folks are having it just happen automatically. Ah well, I'm grateful the phone came so fast and doesn't have any issues. Loving it!

I had a similar issue yesterday. Turns out my office is basically a black hole on ATT's LTE network - As soon as I got away from here and hopped to a different tower, LTE was up and working like a charm.

iPhone 5s to Nexus 5 = LTE enabled by just putting in a sim card adapter (nano to micro)

Works flawlessly

so they don't have to change the IMIE in their system? i wonder why my AT&T guy needed to enter that number off my Nexus 5 into his iPad when i ported over from Sprint? i would think the phone IMIE is irrelevant because the SIM Card is what's on the system.

There is absolutely no need for them to have your IMEI. It is not necessary for them to know your IMEI in order to function. Furthermore, there is no need for you to tell them your IMEI as when you put the SIM card in your phone and connect to the network they can detect the IMEI. The only reason they want your IMEI is so that they can force certain plan features on you (ie if you have a smart phone they will force you to pay for data so a customer who only needs wifi is screwed; they also wont let a phone on a data only plan so a customer who only wants data and VOIP is forced to pay for minutes). The IMEI is how they know what phone you have and therefore what plan to force upon you. This is why ATT recognizing the IMEI is a BAD thing. They have a giant list of IMEI's and what kind of device that IMEI belongs to for all the phones they sold. It is possible that google provided ATT a list of all the N5 IMEI's to enable ATT to detect that it is a "phone". Yes it makes configuring your account easier, but it takes away your freedom of choice.

So my N5 works with LTE but I'm wondering what is going to happen when they notice my phone isn't an iphone since im on an iphone unlimited data plan.
I'm a bit nervous!

There is absolutely nothing to worry about. The plan name might change, but by all accounts you will keep your unlimited.

I can confirm that this is true, as I just did it yesterday! The rep was super excited to see the nexus 5 actually, haha. Just don't change anything about the plan! Changing the phone is not the issue with unlimited, any plan changes (ie: minutes, texts, etc) is when you lose that unlimited perk.

That is, of course, unless you buy a phone from AT&T on contract. Then, they can force you to change plans. ;)

Well that wasn't his question and since at this time you cannot buy a N5 from AT&T and therefore wouldn't apply :p

But you are correct, haha.

Shows how much I know! Ah well, either way I am happy with my N5!

They had to enter my IMEI into their system via an iPad. What they had was from a previous phone. Then I got new SIM and LTE showed up.

I had to upgrade my SIM (going from regular to micro), but had no problems with it working on ATT.

Edit: I did a Speedtest later on, and got 26.87kbps up, 9.84kbps down, 68 ms ping.
