I can't justify spending that amount on any phone, that's a month's mortgage and putting food on my kids plates for a couple of weeks.
Even if I had that much disposable income, I wasn't overly impressed, mainly because I think it's quite ugly.
Unfortunately the carriers (aka Verizon) need to make a profit if they're going to help Google make a profit, hence why the price is way back up to Galaxy Nexus contract prices.
I can't wait for the day that a phone costs a minimum of $3000 /s
Was thinking it would be unlocked like the Nexus', working on any carrier. if a Verizon exclusive in the U.S. then it's not usable on any U'S. carrier? It's exclusive to Verizon in the US as far as carriers go, meaning AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and the smaller companies will not offer it for sale. It is not strictly exclusive to Verizon, though.
I take issue with Google pricing the Pixel XL right in line with the iPhone 7 Plus. They seriously went dollar-for-dollar in pricing it with Apple. They figure they can deliver an Apple-esque experience via Android with the phone, so they're going to charge an Apple-like price.
Unfortunately Google's brand as a cell phone maker doesn't have the same marketing clout as Apple. Only Samsung can get away with absurd device prices (but maybe not so much anymore thanks to recent scandals).
So the Pixels may have the best version of Android. The best camera on Android. But they didn't bother to make it water-resistant like an iPhone, or have legitimate OIS built into their cameras. Some aspects of the Pixel phone are suspect enough to not make it feel like it's worth $649/769. Hopefully there are enough die-hards out there who are willing to make this phone a success.
While this phone seems to have a very small bump up in specs, im afraid I can't justify the price especially when the galaxy S8, with specs that will put the Pixel to shame, is only about 6 months away. . So these are great phones, for now, but way overpriced.
