Will the 4.99-inch Galaxy S4 be a better smartphone than the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2?

It has not been announced or even reviewed yet. So noone knows. The only thing you know it won't have is the S pen and larger screen. And whether or not those things are important to people is a matter of personal choice and opinion. So until its announced and reviewed there is nothing to go on.

While true, I find it hard to believe that Samsung would allow its own flagship--which, for all intents and purposes, is the Galaxy S line--to be bested by one of its past, non Galaxy S-line devices released nearly half a year (or more than that?) prior. That doesn't mean that a Note II would not be a better device for those who want it to be (i.e., S pen users, folks preferring bigger devices, etc.). But purely from tracking Samsung's recent history I find it a distinct probability that the SIV will the best device Samsung, itself, has ever produced.

I could be wrong though :).

Hey, wassup, Marck. Welcome to our forums. Where you been? LOL :D

The S4 will be mainstream like the S3 is, the Note 3 will be cutting edge like the Note 2 is.

Why would you buy the S4 when you could wait a few more months and get the Note 3?

It also depends on what you use you're device for. I love having a big screen. Also the fact that the Note 2 is using a Super AMOLED HD Plus screen is another reason why the Note 2 will still be able to keep up. It's RGB screen makes a huge difference in sharpness. Even though the S4 will have a 1080p screen it's really not needed at all. It's a 5" screen, I mean yeah if it's RGB rather then pentile then it will be nicer but still. I'm very happy with my Note 2's screen.

Besides that I really don't want to live without the S-pen. It can really be great, for work and play. Even more so with the new Photo Shop touch app, it's amazing what you can do with you're Note 2 and that app.

I'm excited about the S4 just because it will give us an idea about how the Note 3 will be. But that's the only reason.

Once you go Note, you can't go back. If the Note 3 really is that much better and has features I won't be able to live without, I'll pick one up but for now I love my Note 2 and can't wait to see what the Note 3 will have in store for us.

Why would you buy the Note 3 when you could wait a few more months and get the S5?

Why would you buy the S5 when you could wait a few more months and get the Note 4?

Why would you buy the Note 4 when you could wait a few more months and get the S6?

This can go on forever.... :D :D :D

So I guess that means the OP should just buy the Note 2 and not wait for the S4 then.

I would at least wait until 3/14 and see what the S4 availability timeline is going to be.

As for memory size on the new device, that may be negligible. One of the supposed leaked screenshots released this morning shows a supposed page from the settings menu of the S4.

In the menu was a section that says "a2sd settings"

This image was leaked by GSM-Israel and is supposed to be from a Galaxy S4, but some light has been shed on the photos by Samsung themselves and said they are from a Galaxy S3 rom that is being worked on (ver. 4.2.1).

So, I guess if these photos are from a development device, that means that the app2sd options are still embedded in the OS and removed on purpose. If they decide to enable the feature again, they could release 16GB devices and not have an issue of backlash from the community for not having enough storage space. It would just depend again on the size of the sd card.

Galaxy S4 or Note 3 for my next. Decisions, decisions.

hmmm... but real important question is this(just like when you're trying to decide which car to buy): which phone will get you laid? The Galaxy Note 2 or the Galaxy S4?
