Will the Atrix find it's way to Verizon?

OK. Not going to AT&T. Hardware didn't draw me there when it was the Iphone and the Atrix won't be any different. BUT, being on Verizon, I would like the Atrix to find it's way to big Red (possibly in global form). Forget the Bionic. Yeah. Similar specs, but I like the docking, etc. of the Atrix.

Anyone hear anything about this possibility?

It would be a long ways away considering they'd have to put completely different radios in the device, and I'm sure AT&T probably has some kind of exclusivity agreement. VZW's got its new toy in the iPhone.

I think Atrix is AT&T's time to shine in the Android sun (for once). They're not going to let it go.

But don't be surprised if a similar, dockable phone does end up on Verizon in the future.

Considering the Bionic, with similar specs (Tegra2, qHD screen, 1930mAh battery)) is headed to Verizon, I'm doubtful the Atrix will end up with Verizon. Plus the Bionic has a bigger screen, higher MP camera, and LTE. The only thing the Bionic lacks that the Atrix has (besides the docks) is the extra RAM, but most users won't notice the difference.

According to a recent Motorola training I attended, "the atrix will only be on at&t forever" well it was said in more words but that's the message. Like all phones there will be variations on other carriers so a dockable phone is likely for sure.

And I have a feeling that just like at&t having the iphone will cripple their ability to fund/support a balanced lineup. Verizon has already offered apple a huge amount of money to keep the iphone on the duopoly and not let it go to the other carriers. that's gonna be hard to budget buying out other exclusive high end devices. That's what I feel made at&t pick up the sloppy seconds with their subpar android lineup so far. but now that the handcuffs are off look at the three android devices they highlighted at CES...

hence my below quoted statement vv

Not saying that AT&T's initial jump into Android wasn't half-assed (ugh, Backflop), but the Captivate had potential- the Galaxy S phones had awesome specs, and were faster than anything else at the time. I don't think anyone at AT&T (or any carrier for that matter) would realize how much the software blew.

I saw a rumor here that Verizon will get the Atrix in Q4, but since I haven't seen that repeated anywhere else I don't put much stock in it. It's such an obvious idea that I'm sure there will be further dockable phones from Motorola and even from other manufacturers, but there's a good chance AT&T will have a lock for 2011.

First of all... are you re.tardeded? It is a GSM phone and will never be on verizon in its current state. However the bionic is relatively the same thing and will be out this summer on verizon CDMA and LTE

Let me guess, it was the same rep saying "forever" that told potential customers to shop elsewhere? I don't believe in static forever, and I didn't believe the iPhone was AT&Ts forever. Motorola is still one of my favorite Phone manufactures, but I am sure the Atrix will have a EOLD, and nothing is ever set in stone tech wise.

Yea and it will be called the bionic...

As much as I love the Atrix I think with the bionic releasing this year the Atrix would be redundant on verizon. And I have direct information from Motorola that says the ATRIX will stay with AT&T. It's not like the Iphone where they plan on releasing 5 generations of the thing, and you have to worry about it's exclusivity. In a year it will be some other 4G dual core with FFC and NFC and android 2.7 yada yada yada, but dont hold your breathe for a VZW Atrix. If you are happy with Verizon just put on the blinders and don't let a phone draw you away. I've said it before, YOUR NETWORK THAT WORKS FOR YOU IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN A TRENDY PHONE!

it definitely wasn't some clown patrolling facebook posts that was teaching this training. But all I'm saying is they will let the ATRIX live and die on at&t. there is no need to make a cdma/evdo ATRIX. Motorola already has a powerful phone in the Bionic coming for verizon so to release a Atrix or Atrix cousin on VZW withing the same quarter would be redundant like my last two posts LOL.

I think ppl are looking at the different phones that are coming out this year and everyone is saying the same thing: oooh if only that was on ____ carrier or do you think they will make one for my carrier. It's been an age old debate in the wireless world and the closest i've seen is the galaxy phones but even those have their distinct differences. And the EVO 4G then HTC made the HD2 which was similar for TMO, then they made the DESIRE HD for europe and now the Inspire 4G on AT&T. That is the real close comparison as far as a trail that led a phone to another carrier, but It's not the EVO 4G on at&t its different right? So I'll say it again, the ATRIX 4G will be only on AT&T, why would you have any envy if you had the Bionic? the most revolutionary thing about the Atrix is the Laptop dock and I think we can all agree that is not off to a hot start and might just do a face plant on launch day/week/month until the price comes down. Stop me if I'm wrong...

^^ yeah Agreed. The technology is definitely something that can move this industry forward as more than a cell phone and more of a complete multimedia solution. The docks are cool and will change the way we interface with our tvs, comps, and home networks. They might even get DLNA more universal to where the docks would really be obsolete too. You can already use your home wifi and a web browser to access everything on your phone and pull or push pictures and contacts to the phone. Or if you have a DLNA device like xbox 360 or ps3 or tv with it then you can wirelessly stream media. it's only a matter of time before you can do everything the docks do just without the need to physically dock the phone. How cool would that be?

Nope not the bionic. It will be called the Droid X 2

Just look at the ports and their placement. Combined with the rumours that the X2 will have many docks:

4.3 qHD, dual core Tegra2, but no LTE
