So I thought previously I had voice/data at same time, Im on verizon - but today while i was on the phone and tried navigating somewhere it couldnt connect and gave me the 'working offline' deal.. I thought when I got the phone I tested this and it was fine.. any suggestions?

Will Verizon Wireless activate the Nexus 6p?

I've got the old Samsung Nexus from Verizon wireless which uses a standard sim card.
The new 6p uses a Nano Sim card, so if I got the 6p from Google would Verizon let me activate my sim card onto the new Nano sim card in the 6p?

I am a Verizon user. I had a nano sim card because of nexus 6. All I did was take the SIM out of 6 and into 6p. And just like magic, everything works.

All u need is a nano sim card. I've heard people are ordering them online and skipping going to the store all together. Either way, store should activate the phone for you.

Just an FYI. When I contacted Verizon wireless support to change my Basic Visual Voice mail to just Basic Voice mail, the rep told me that in order to drop down to Basic Voice mail, I would have to remove the HD calling (advanced calling to allow Voice + Data). So if this is true, that means users will have to sacrifice the Voice+Data at the same time just to have Basic Voicemail.....I hope others have experienced something different??

I just gave up for the time being and switched to Google Voice for my voicemail. Because Verizon doesn't support Google Voice for the Voicemail (shocking) like T-Mobile does, you have to forward all your calls to the Google voice number which will then transfer back to your cell number. There are no delays so far in my testing and the best part is, I get my Voice mails transcribed and sent to me in an email for free (Verizon charges $2.99 for this service which is why they don't support Google Voicemail) .

Yup, I created google voice account last night and got calls transferring to that. Works beautiful.

Lots of good info here. So, are there any major blocking issues with Verizon? What does not work or is completely broken? Voicemail, simultaneous voice and data, call quality, signal strength? I realize those last two can depend upon location, building interference, etc.

I am on the waitlist, but am being cautious about interoperability and support on Verizon.

Just voicemail. The on advanced calling and you have data while on calls. Call quality has bee superb. Signal strength is as good as my droid maxx or better.

I'm having connection issues with my 6P and my network extender. For some reason, it doesn't want to connect at 3g and I don't nearly have the range as I did with my Note 4.

I activated my 6p yesterday on VZW. Took some time in the store to make it happen but it works. Noticed that my signal strength is not what it was on my s5 or is on my wife's s5. Call quality seems fine though. Got a code from them to trade in my phone for 200, and I might do it(my s5). Going to keep trying this for couple more days and if I don't enjoy the heck out of it I will grab a V10.

Just take the phone with you into a corporate store and tell them you need a nano sim for your new phone. They will give you one free and activate it in the phone. I had no issues and it took less than 10 minutes including the time the rep spent making sure calls, texts, and data worked. You dont have to cut a sim down, activate a sim in another phone or do anything else. Just ask and ye shall receive.

So, I got my company to add the HD calling to my plan (easy to convince them since it's FREE) and I got a text about VVM. Not sure what to do with it, it included a password and a couple links that don't seem to work. Is there something I need to do for this "basic visual voicemail" that seems to be required for HD calling?

Verizon Network and choices

Hi all,

Just got the 6P last week and am finishing up setup. I am coming from a Droid Turbo. One of the things I am confused about is in the network settings:

I am showing:

Global
LTE/CDMA
LTE/GSM/UMTS

I have seen in previous posts it was suggested you select the LTE/GSM/CDMA which I don't seem to have so I opted to take the last one on the list above. Since I have selected it I have been on LTE almost exclusively, but boy is it slow.

For the 6P my high has been 15.81 down 4.48 up while on LTE. For a comparison the Turbo had a high of 43.43 down and 12.41 up also on LTE.

When I go to WiFi the 6P is the clear winner with a 61.41 down 8.86 up versus the Droid 40.1 down and 8.23 up.

I guess I am wondering if I have it on the right LTE band or if I should switch to the LTE/CDMA.

Thanks for your input and taking the time to read my ramblings.

On Verizon the only 2 you should use are Global and LTE/CDMA
I'm not sure which is better. I'm on LTE/CDMA right now

Yes I contacted Verizon too but they do not have any VVM support on any app for Verizon's voicemail regardless what voicemail feature have on your account, because the 6P is not recognized in their system.

You do not have to forward all calls to Google Voice for VVM... instead you can just forward unanswered calls to Google Voice. Check out my thread here for details... http://forums.androidcentral.com/ne...-visual-voice-mail-nexus-app-not-working.html

A tip for people on Verizon who are switching to the 6P but currently only have a micro SIM... Buy a nano to micro SIM adapter off amazon ahead of time, they're around $3-$5, so you can use this adapter to activate your new nano SIM in your current phone. Then all you need to do is swap the SIM into the 6P.

When I got my 6P last week Verizon would not active my new nano SIM in the 6P... luckily I thought of this ahead of time and got nano to micro adapter... when it wouldn't activate in the 6p I asked Verizon rep to try activating it in my Note 4 and it activated without any problems using the adapter, she never even questioned it either. I did this all over the phone.

On the recommendation of a friend, I had planned to do the same thing ... except my phone arrived unexpectedly before I got the adapter. So, I decided to just stop in at a Verizon store on my way home from work that night, and had no problem. They gave me a nano SIM and activated the phone with no problem. In fact, the tech I was working with was very interested in the phone and was enthusiastic to help. And, he was frustrated that he couldn't get the visual voicemail to work. But, otherwise, I had no issues.
