Will the Nexus 6P work on Verizon?

I tried getting a nano sim earlier this week (phone coming today). They said they need the phone in person, however they are terrible people at my local store. So your luck might be different? I believe some people said they were able to get VZW to mail them one.
Why not just go to another var?

The other stores near me are not corporate owned so I've never had good luck with those. Also it wasn't a big deal for me to wait and go there in person with the phone. Which I will probably be doing this evening.

Oh I see.

can someone drop the play store link to the visual voicemail here? I cant find it for some reason. I search for "verizon" "visual voicemail" I dont see it. I have it on my Note 4. thanks!

I am guessing there would no problems using the network extender right?

Getting my nano sim soon!!!

I got the same thing - I assume its the verizon visual voicemail app but it just hangs.. im getting the verizon VVM wierd texts but no vvm or vm icon notifications... any help?

There is currently no VVM app that will function on Verizon's network. The only option available to us is Google Voice, which is what I set up and am using just fine. It will be a few months before the 6P gets certified on their network. After that you can use their VVM app.

I got a garbled text from Verizon last evening and checked my VM by long pressing the 1 on my dialer and yep...there was a VM waiting. Got on their chat and at first he said there were some functions that were not going to work with it not being a supported device. I told him I wasn't talking about Visual Voice Mail, I just wanted a notification when I had a VM waiting and what someone on a forum said they got Verizon to fix it. After I said that, he said "Ohhh...okay". Came back a few minutes later, told me to restart my phone and then we tested it and I got a notification and I could dial into my VM from that notification.

That's all you really need. If I were you I'd cancel the vvm. Why pay for it until it works? You'll know when to sign up again. People will post it here.

I have no visual voicemail app installed for T-Mobile. I was going to install the app and saw the built in one for the dialer works fine.

Cool. I am getting that too. Thanks.

Mine will not connect to my network extender. Does anyone have one of those up and running?

Anyone getting "searching for service" or "no sim" after a call is dropped? Service will start back up and can call again. It has happened twice now.

Unsure if its the an issue with advanced calling, the sim, the phone, or the network connecting to the phone.

My verizon 6p is working just did a sim swap from another phone which was already nano. My service is ok. its radio is def odd. I get horrible speeds at times, then sometimes its normal. sometimes i drop to 3g. I have a verizon 6s Plus thats carried with me at same time which never has an issue

Verizon Sim Question

I have my nano sim in my M8 if I put that in my 6P just to test some stuff out and see what i think of data related stuff on the phone would I be able to switch back and forth the sim without issue? I don't want to have a problem with my Verizon account where it blocks me from putting it back in Like if I switched it now to the 6P could i switch it back in a few hours and then maybe a few hours after that back to the M8 and so on until im fully satisfied in keeping the 6P?

Re: Verizon Sim Question

I switched from the m8 to the nexus 6 to the moto x style back to the nexus 6 and then to the 6p. All with the same sim and never with any problem. I can't imagine you having any issues.

I have an extender and we have two new Nexus 6P's - no issues. I did have an issue at one point, restarted, still had the issue, then left then house. When I came back it was working again and (knock on wood) has done so ever since, so I just assumed it was a temporary issue unrelated to my phone.

Awesome, sounds like these three things will work just fine, that's great to hear.

Thanks for your replies!

I wasn't expecting that I was going to order the 6P because I love my Note 4 and all of it's features, well I loved it on 4.4 at least. But I've gotten so fed up with 5.0.1 on my Note 4... I've done a factory reset twice now since the update and every time it runs great for about a month then the phone starts to run like ****... and I'm fed up with Verizon's utter lack of promptness with their updates. Then there's Samsung and how much I'm pissed at them for ruining the Note line for me with the Note 5.

So what do I do... say "F" both Verizon and Samsung and get a Nexus 6P to use on Verizon. Smooth fast running Nexus phone with timely updates straight from Google running on Verizon which has the best coverage for me. I'm going to miss those Note 4 features but hopefully this tradeoff is worth it.

I upgraded my Note 4 for the exact reasons you mentioned. After spending couple of hours setting up 6P and getting familiar with the new os, I am all in on the pure android experience. Speed boost and overall smoothness alone is enough for me to finally move away from samsung. I will miss the s-pen and the IR blaster, but all those extras come at a heavy and sluggish price. 6P is my first nexus phone and I am amazed how smooth and fast this phone is. Knowing that this phone will receive timely updates and security patches is the main reason I took a chance. Note 4 was an amazing phone until the 5.0.1 disaster. Never again samsung/verizon

Re: 6P for Verizon?

Called customer service about voicemail notifications before delivered as text.

Took my imei and did who knows what else behind the scene. Good news is that the VM icon now shows in status bar and no text message.

Hopefully anyone else having an issue can get the same help.

I did not have visual voicemail set up under my number. I have used an iPhone recently, although not on this sim.

If you go to your account settings, under Voice mail Add ons, switch to basic voice mail. Mine was set to Basic visual voice mail and I was also getting text messages when a voicemail was left. Now a standard notifications shows up and all is right again

Re: 6P for Verizon?

Just an FYI. When I contacted Verizon wireless support to change my Basic Visual Voice mail to just Basic Voice mail, the rep told me that in order to drop down to Basic Voice mail, I would have to remove the HD calling (advanced calling to allow Voice + Data). So if this is true, that means users will have to sacrifice the Voice+Data at the same time just to have Basic Voicemail.....I hope others have experienced something different??

I just gave up for the time being and switched to Google Voice for my voicemail. Because Verizon doesn't support Google Voice for the Voicemail (shocking) like T-Mobile does, you have to forward all your calls to the Google voice number which will then transfer back to your cell number. There are no delays so far in my testing and the best part is, I get my Voice mails transcribed and sent to me in an email for free (Verizon charges $2.99 for this service which is why they don't support Google Voicemail) .
