Will the Nexus 6P work on Verizon?

Re: 6P for Verizon?

I had a voicemail icon the first day (Friday) I had the phone.

Today all I was receiving was texts with code.

I never had visual voicemail on my account.

Why does VVM matter?

I run a small business and have a few people that work for me and get a lot of calls and voicemails from them and customers. If I miss a call I can read the message and see if I need to return a call or decide which call is a priority to keep. I can also keep it as a visual if I need to review it in a week or so but don't want to listen to a bunch of voicemails.

Re: 6P for Verizon?

I get what vvm does. Just curious why voicemail notification has gone to text messages and not an actual voicemail notification

Re: 6P for Verizon?

I'm coming from a Note 4. Went to a Verizon store (full store, not a kiosk). Asked for a non sim card. They got me one and looked at the system info on my 6P, presumably to activate it. Said they needed another phone so the rep pulled a refurbished Samsung (GS6 I think). Popped in the nano sim, then put it back in my 6P. Did some stuff on his tablet (registering it perhaps). Whole process took about 10 minutes and my 6P has been working fine. I'm in a few group texts and I'm sending and receiving group texts noticeably faster than my Note 4. I used to get a much longer delay but it's near instantaneous now.

Just got my N6P (yay!) and all looks good (yay!) but when I put my formerly-in-an-iPhone nanoSim into the N6P, it gives me the exclamation point over LTE and I cant make calls.

Trying to activate on the web by switching old device to new device ID gives me "We cannot process your request at this time".

Any ideas? Ive also tried the link earlier in this thread for setting up a new device but I get an error saying it cannot be activated on the Verizon network.

Do i need a new nanoSim and start from scratch?

Thanks.

-Chris

No, your SIM should be fine. Try calling or chatting with customer service.

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

A friend mentioned that he has some SIM adapters laying around, and suggested I could just take my current micro-SIM G2 to a Verizon store, explain that I'm waiting for my 6P to ship, and ask them to activate a nano-SIM for me now, then just use that in my current phone with the adapter until my 6P arrives. That way there's no issue with cutting it down or using my husband's iPhone to activate the new SIM card. Why didn't I think of that? ;) As currently scheduled, the Nexus should arrive only a day or two before I leave on vacation, and I probably wouldn't have time to hassle with the whole SIM card thing at that point, so this seems like a better plan. Then I could play with the phone while I'm away cuz, to me, that counts as relaxing. :) Anyone see any faults in this plan?

I had read somewhere (on the infamous interwebs) that someone had tried the same plan at the verizon corporate store, they were unable to get the nano sim to activate (on the older phone) because the system recognized that phone required a micro sim, and so they could not proceed. This was early on in the release so at that time the only work around that was out in the forums was to use a floor model iphone6 to activate the sim, then swap it into the n6p. I'm in the same boat as you, sans the spouse having the phone available. I think your easiest route is to get the nano sim (I got my mailed via the online chat, just told them I'm getting the n6p, and I needed a nano sim. They mailed it 2nd day (which was a waste since my 6p finally shipped yesterday, they billed me for the shipping but the sim was free). So here I sit with a sim card, just waiting... and waiting for my n6p "pre"-order. grr! Anyhow good luck and let us know of your outcome.

Re: 6P for Verizon?

Called customer service about voicemail notifications before delivered as text.

Took my imei and did who knows what else behind the scene. Good news is that the VM icon now shows in status bar and no text message.

Hopefully anyone else having an issue can get the same help.

I did not have visual voicemail set up under my number. I have used an iPhone recently, although not on this sim.

Just did, they are sending me a new SIM. Said the one I used in the iPhone isnt compatible (although Im not quite sure why not)

Ill wait for the new one and if it still no go, Ill cut down the one from my G2 since someone else had success doing the same.

Re: 6P for Verizon?

I receive my Verizon nano sim tomorrow. I am a new customer with them and will be porting over from TM. Is it better for me to just use my wife's iPhone 5s (Verizon) to activate the sim and then pop it back into my device? They took down my IMEI number and when I go to the Verizon website and typed in my IMEI number it shows as compatible. The sales rep I spoke to @ Verizon said that he is going to list my phone as a Nexus 6 at the moment to get a green light to issue the sim card. Also, will the activation process on the iPhone 5s require any separate process to wipe clean since I'll be doing a factory restore before selling it.

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

Currently I'm using a galaxy s4 on vzw and a nexus 6 on fi. I would like to use the 6p while in the States with my unlimited vzw plan, but swap out to the fi sim while traveling international for the cheaper calling and data rates in other countries thru fi.

Anyone know if I will run into any problems? Thanks

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

I just entered chat with verizon and said i need a sim card for the 6P, gave them the IEM or whatever number. Took about 15 minutes, no issues just waiting for the system to process the order. Here is what i got " It can ship out Fedex 2nd day by 7pm for free.".

Edit: this was about ten minutes ago.

Ive got my 6p running on Verizon now as well but would you mind sharing which visual voicemail mail app you are using? I've tried the two published in the Google Play app store by Verizon and neither is working for me. I accept the T&Cs and then it loads a "checking account status" screen with a spinner that never completes. I know visual VM is enabled on my account because it was working just fine on my DROID MAXX that I pulled my SIM out of.

I have a 6p on Verizon.

Visual VM works fine, just download the app from the play store and make sure you have the option activated on your account.

My Verizon works great.

I, for some odd reason, had to set up my voicemail greeting again before calls would come in. Not sure what's up with that.

Must be an iPhone thing?

can someone drop the play store link to the visual voicemail here? I cant find it for some reason. I search for "verizon" "visual voicemail" I dont see it. I have it on my Note 4. thanks!

I am guessing there would no problems using the network extender right?

Getting my nano sim soon!!!

The trouble is the sim is still too think after cutting so you need to sand it down or it might get stuck in new device.

Is it possible to get the nano SIM prior to getting the phone? So I could have the SIM in hand before the phone arrives and then just pop it in? Or would I need to physically bring it to a Verizon store?

I tried getting a nano sim earlier this week (phone coming today). They said they need the phone in person, however they are terrible people at my local store. So your luck might be different? I believe some people said they were able to get VZW to mail them one.
