Will the Nexus 6P work on Verizon?

It should work. The phone is shipping with the proper bands, and it Nexus 6, and Moto X Pure Edition both work on Big Red. I know cause I have both of those phones and ordered my Nexus 6P today.

Good to know! I've wanted to switch to Verizon for a while since they have better coverage in my area. But I've been nervous since they had so much difficulty with Nexus in the past.

If you are activating these phones with new service, I'd wait about a week for Verizon to get the imei in their system. Same thing happened with the Moto X Pure. But if you have active service with an active nanosim card, plug it in and you should be good to go!

A week I could deal with, though it would be quite frustrating. With the Nexus 6, the phone launched in October and it took them until March to load the imei. Didn't think anyone could be that incompetent.

Right, but again, they are operating differently now. The Moto X Pure took about a week for new activations and worked immediately if you already had an active nanosim.

Couple quick questions regarding using the 6p on Verizon:

1. I currently have a Note 4. My upgrade eligibility isn't until June but I figure I'll just buy the 6p and sell my Note 4. Can I just put the SIM card in or do I have to go to Verizon and have them "activate" it.

2. What is the return policy for phones purchased through Google? If I don't like it or for some reason it doesn't work on Verizon, can I return it for a full refund?

You'll need to get a nano SIM or cut the micro SIM down to nano size.

Is it just that simple? You don't have to call customer service to activate the new device or anything? Just pop in the nanosim and go?

Edit: I'm coming from the Droid Turbo.

yes it is. I bought (and returned) the Moto X Pure Edition, which is stock Android (Lollipop) with no verizon apps, bloat, tampering, etc. I took my nanosim from my Verizon Galaxy S6, put in my Moto XPE, and everything worked out of the gate. Advanced calling, 3g, 1x (I tested with Advanced calling off just to see), 4g LTE data, etc. You may have to toggle the "Enhanced 4G LTE" setting "on" and make sure Advanced calling is turned on with your account on Verizon (it may already be with the Droid Turbo, I can't remember if that supports VoLTE) and it will work.

Does the droid turbo have a nanosim? I believe so. In that case, yes, just pop out the sim of the Droid Turbo and put it in the new Nexus. That's what I'll be doing!

Now for the caveat: This all worked perfectly on the Moto X Pure Edition which was sold without a verizon store and without verizon tampering. All evidence supports that the same will happen with both of new Nexus devices. I know I will be doing the same thing as I did with the Moto XPE. There could still be an issue that we don't know about, but for all intents and purposes, should work without a hitch.

This seems very optimistic to me. The fact is, this has never worked on a newly released non-Verizon Nexus phone. So the comment that all evidence supports that this will work seems strange to me. I think it would be more accurate to say that there is no evidence whatsoever that this will work (it never has), just lots of hopeful optimism.

^No. Just go in and tell them you need a nano-sim and they will give you one.

Does getting a nano-sim from Verizon cost anything if I'm using it to replace a regular sim?

I've also heard that going to a corporate Verizon store will yield better results. Those "authorized reseller" stores like to nickel and dime ya, so they'll likely charge you for a sim.

Keep in mind that if you get the Nexus device on day 1 and need a new sim from Verizon, you might have to wait a few days to a week in order for the IMEI to get into their system. This happened with the Moto X Pure Edition. However, people with active nano sims were able to go from day 1. Some people even bought sim cutters online to trim their micro sim to a nano sim so they didn't have to worry about potential activation issues on day 1.

The Droid Turbo has both VoLTE support and a nanosim (which is cleverly hidden behind the volume rocker). Hope it all goes smoothly.

6P for Verizon?

Will the nexus 6P work for Verizon ? Does it have all the right bands ?

Posted via the NOTE 4 or NEXUS 9

Re: 6P for Verizon ?

Possibly the better question might be will Verizon allow the device on their network... or when will they allow it? I'm not sure, but I thought they had issues with the newest Moto X Pure Edition... I think they had to get their database updated with a list of IMEI numbers before they would work. Will Verizon work with Huawei to get what they need? It could be the beginning of a relationship, but only time will tell.

This was the old way of Verizon doing things -- Due to the 700 MHz spectrum they agreed to they have to allow any capable phone on the network. If you have an active SIM and slap it in -- it works. The only catch is they don't have to activate a "new SIM" if they don't want to (depends per store / person you get).

This...
My new moto x worked with no problem when I threw an existing sim in it. I have no doubt at all that the 6p will be the same.
