Do you think the note 8 will have better 4G than the Note 5? I am on Verizon and there are many places that 4G just doesn't work here in West Palm Beach, FLA. I am hoping for better reception with a better modem in the Note 8!

Unfortunately, in my experience, that's something you never know until you get the damned phone! I've had newer model phones get poorer reception than my previous phone once I got them home - you just never know!

Doubtful. The radios are newer but if the area just sucks in general it won't help.

I would think so. Wife has a Note 5. I have an S8+. There are many times where she has to use my phone instead of hers, because she doesn't get a good signal

A lot of it is the phone not the carrier. The Pixel XL i had had connectivity issues from the minute I got it. It connected to both wi-fi and 4g (Verizon) worse than any phone I've ever had. I think some of the first batch of that phone were if not defective, slightly off.
Even my LG G3 connects better, and when the connection itself (the carrier or the wifi}are weaker it still manages to connect where the Pixel didn't. Both my Note 7's did ok, though the first was better at connecting to weak wifi than the second.

I'd say it's possible, but unlikely. The LTE modem on the 835 is capable of higher speeds than the Note 5, but all the speed in the world isn't going to help if it's a particular band that you aren't receiving well enough. Having said that, once it gets the data it's going do do what it does with it a little faster, so there may be an appearance of better coverage.

A longer phone can imply more room for the antenna, which can help with signal reception.

You also need to consider what Verizon has deployed in your area. The Verizon note 8 has support for LTE bands 5 and 66 and LTE-U which the Verizon note 5 doesn't have. Not likely though at this time. The Note 8 also supports qam 256 and 4x4 mimo which the Verizon note 5 doesn't have. Only makes a difference if Verizon has them implemented at your spot though. I see about a 40 mbps peak speed difference between my s8 which supports qam 256 and mimo 4x4 and my iPhone 7 Plus which doesn't.
