Will the Pricing of the New Moto X Affect the Nexus?

With the Moto X Pure Edition starting at a base price of $399, I figure that with customizations from Moto Maker the price could go up to about $550, depending on the storage variant, materials and accents one chooses. With tax, it would come to around $600. Do you think that Google has learned their lesson with regard to the initially high price point of the Moto Nexus 6, and will thus price the Huawei Nexus accordingly, assuming the LG Nexus is the "smaller" variant? Incidentally, I could see the latter going for $349.99 and 399.99, respectively, depending on storage. Thoughts?

I forgot how much nexus 6 was when they launched but it was like Apple iPhone price. I have feeling that price will be high again to compete with other competition.

I don't think the N6 was overpriced at all. The 64 gig version was still $200 less than the comparative iPhone 6+. And there is no bend issue. I think the two new Nexii will be priced reasonably close to what the top line minus leather Moto X Style/Pure and possibly between that and the New Moto G. So my guess will be $299 for the lower spec'd 1080p five inch and $500-600 for the larger depending on storage.

The 32 GB Nexus 6 was priced at $649.99, and the 64 GB was $699.99 before tax.

Not to say that it was overpriced, but with the issues it had with the swelling battery and lettering coming off, as well as the size, it turned some people off.

They're not going to raise the price. It may go down as far as $400 soon.

If the nexus 6 had been sold as a Moto S, no Nexus branding, at the same price it launched at, everyone would have accepted it. It sat at a reasonable premium above the Moto X.

But everyone compared it to the nexus 5... Somehow expecting it to be the same, or similar price. That was never going to happen.

Now the Huawei... The presence of the Moto X Style, a phone that didn't even remotely exist 12 months ago, complicates matters. Still, the Huawei Nexus will still be a premium phone at a premium price. Not Note 5 price, but not bargain basement either.
