Will the screen scratch?

If I put the HTC One in my pocket on its own with nothing else in it, is there any risk it can scratch even small scratches? Like rubbing against cotton/denim?

If it rubs against something harder than it is, it can get scratched...

The easy answer is yes, there is a risk.

Mine has scratched. Nothing major, just two very small scratches that you can't even see unless you tilt it just right under a bright light. But, they're still there.

It'll be fine as long as you keep the phone by itself in your pocket.

Better than the chips on my edges. My device has met concrete a time or two. I don't use a case, either.

+1

I never worried before since I used a case but I ended that with the One. It took awhile getting used too.

The screen on the One is Gorilla Class 2 made by Corning. It is pretty resistant to scratches. Like other people said if sand and small pebbles rubbed against the surface I'm pretty sure it will scratch but other than that you should be fine. Rubbing against cotton/denim is not going to scratch it.

Ive been packing mine in my pocket (with nothing else) for over 4 months now with no screen protector. The screen is just as flawless now as the day I purchased it. My galaxy S2 was this way too which also sported Gorilla Glass 2...its pretty good stuff.

No scratches here after a few months but it does easily smudge so I plan to get a finger print resistant screen protector...

I've heard good things about those tempered glass screen protectors. Just picked up 2 new Ones black and red for the wife and kid and will eventually slap one of those on for extra protection.

I'm naked.. Have been since I got it. My phone has a designated pocket (nothing else) and I have no screen scratches.

yes, I believe it has Gorilla Glass 2 which is good but while on vacation some sand rubbed on my screen and left small scartches

the screen is pretty resistant if you take care of it as you appear to be doing. ive had mine for a few weeks without protection and the screen has no scratches...

the camera glass, however, is somewhat more prone to scratches. be careful where you rest your phone because the glass will be in direct contact with the surface. pitty htc didnt use sapphire crystal like apple did with the iPhone 5 for this purpose.

Thanks for that. I'll probably buy a case for it then.
