will the sd card from a galaxy s9 fit in a galaxy s5

My S9 updated itself, then the sd card became incompatible. The S9 is telling me I need to format it, but I know if I do this, I will loose all of my photos. How can I get those photos before I format it. I have my old S5, can I move the SD card to it to get my data?

Put the card into an adapter, plug it into a PC, and run PhotoRec on it. (Instructions at PhotoRec - Recover data from an iPhone.) If the PC can see the card, PhotoRec will recover anything still on it.

Two other possibilities - the card may have become corrupted (so there's nothing to recover) or the card may have failed (and if it's a SanDisk card, you can go to SanDisk Customer Care to get it replaced).
