Will the US Unlocked HTC 10 model work on Verizon?

HTC included the CDMA bands and radios in the unlocked version as well, that's why it's so strange that the phone won't connect to the Verizon network. But whatever the reason, it's been confirmed, it won't connect. I do wish I knew why though.

Making a single hardware variant makes sense for HTC though. Simplifies things for them when all they have to do to change allocations is change the software being flashed to the device and throw it in a different box. And maybe attach a few extra Verizon stickers anyway 😀
To me, it seems as though HTC is listing the specs for all variants, without clarifying if some are only on certain SKUs.

If that's so, then those if us who ordered the unlocked version may be in for a rude surprise.

HTC had enough material on their site to indicate only AT&T and T-Mobile and various other GSM-based networks.

Yep, HTC has cleared said on Twitter that it won't work on Verizon and also on the website they have indicated the same. Below is from their website, not sure why anyone will be surprised. I think most Verizon customers are hoping more than anything else.

*The HTC 10 will be available for Verizon Wireless and Sprint soon.

*AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro PCS, Alaska Communications, Cricket, Walmart Family Mobile, Straight Talk and Next 10 customers can use an unlocked HTC 10 today.

Sounds like you definitely can't activate an unlocked 10 on Verizon. But if you have an activated Verizon SIM, you should be able to pop it in and it should work since it has all the necessary bands... right? I don't see how Verizon can block any phone that has their SIM in it, even if they use CDMA.

I really hope it works. The 10 is just a removable battery shy of being the perfect phone for me, and if the unlocked version works on Verizon I'm picking it up immediately.

This sentence referencing Verizon has now been removed, FYI.

FWIW, activations on Verizon are tied to IMEI now, and not SIM.

But that's activation. If you already activated your SIM in a Verizon phone, shouldn't it work once you put it in the unlocked 10? This method worked on my Nexus 6P.

If you've activated a new phone on an existing account, or changed a phone recently on Verizon, the activation website requires you to put in your IMEI, ESN, or MEID before checking your SIM. Your LTE SIM will only work with device that has a IMEI, ESN, or MEIDthat is authorized on your account. They had issues with people buying dirt cheap prepay phones and then sticking MVNO SIMs that used Verizon's network in them. Basically, they did it to keep certain phones off their network, such as prepays not on a prepay plan and phones with dirty ESNs (unpaid balances on other carriers). This change has been in effect with Verizon since 1/17/16. The few post I seen from reviewers trying an unlocked model on Verizon did the "drop in an activated SIM" that worked up until 1/16/16. I haven't seen any reviewer try it by adding the IMEI of their review model to their Verizon account. I'm not saying that it would work for sure, just that I haven't seen anyone actually try and activate an unlocked HTC 10 via this method.

Factory Unlocked HTC 10 on Verizon

Post here if/when the unlocked version of HTC 10 is approved/working on VZW network.
Thank you

I'm not sure I understand.....I've recently activated three new unlocked phones by simply putting in my existing sim

I have done the same. Unfortunately, the HTC 10 won't work on Verizon for the unlocked version. If it did I'd consider getting it. After going unlocked it's to damn hard to come back to a Verizon branded phone anymore.

It's not necessarily unlocked, all Verizon phones are unlocked anyway. The problem is Verizon band customization.

This^ The way I understand it, is that GSM bands will work not CDMA. So maybe unlocked, but still not usable on Verizon.

So then question is would Verizon version work on TMO?

So then the question is why would any person take a gimped version with ugly Verizon stamp, slow updates, bloat want to use on T-Mobile or AT&T when the better unlocked pure version can be used without any issues.

Looking at the Network section on both the HTC website for the unlocked HTC 10 and on Verizon's website for the HTC 10 and it shows the same bands. I really hope tomorrow a switch gets turned on and the unlocked HTC 10 works on Verizon.
