You can hardly buy a new Note 10.1 2014 right now. Best Buy has only black wifi 16GB models, no white, no 32gb, the rest are all used or refurbs. Other places mostly the same situation. This must mean Samsung has stopped making them to clear out for a new model.
I would not buy a refurb frankly, because I have, twice. I picked up a sketchy 3rd party one "new in box" on ebay for abut $260. Probably a return item. It has some small issues, not sure whether to keep it. I really just want a light 10" sketch pad with wacom, and that role it fulfills. The speakers have a fuzzy sound with S's and the display flickers very slightly when dimmed between 0-35%. Before that I also bought another sketchy refurb from Groupon, sent it back because it would not charge. Researching, the Note 10.1 has had battery lead solder issues, and battery connector contact issues. Maybe could be fixed fairly easily. But that doesn't explain the speakers. Problem is, if I send it back I have to pay at least 2x as much for a brand new one, and then there will be a next-gen model within just a few months probably for about the same price. Sigh.
The functionality with the stylus, and the speed, and the screen quality - the Note 10.1 is definitely the best Android tablet I've ever used. Two gripes: the usb port is in a horrible place, and it's only USB2 and takes over 12 hours to charge. They certainly need to fix those two issues. I would pay full price for a good one, but yeah, I would get it from a reputed source so I could return it or get warranty coverage.
