it isn't bad, I've noticed a little less touch sensitivity, but mostly when I am trying to type really quickly. I would assume this is because my touch gets lighter when I type quickly. As for it sticking, so far it's been a week and no issues. The one complaint I have is it is a little narrow and cuts off the very edge of the screen. It is nice to know I don't have to worry about scratching the screen though.

If I didn't have Oreo from beta program b7 on my s8+ but switching between 7.1.1 and 8.0 does remind me

And Sam's has full list of change log etc to look thru.

At one point Word was Samsung would skip 8.1 as not worth effort (focus on P instead?) But now will go forward with 8.1 A lot on their plate what with S9 rollout

Oreo on S8 is not the same of course as Oreo for S9 due to change brought about by how carrier drivers and apps are handled. I think they're learning as they go somewhat.
