Will We See Gingerbread?

I think we'll see GB for our phones.... We have the awesome developers that will make us a far superior version than what VZW can pass along OTA or otherwise. I say it is just a matter of time now...

I concur.
Props to the all of the Fascinate Devs out there. I'm surprised that the big manufacturers haven't been able to seduce you with crazy big salaries and desks with staplers on them. I'll probably follow you to whatever phone you all occupy next.

Regarding Gingerbread, Ice Cream, Jello, etc....
Whatever.

Oh good lord. It begins.

I was thinking the exact same thing. On the same day as the official froyo announcement, no less. Now I kind of feel sorry for Verizon customer service in the coming months.

MODS -- Please kill this thread. Honestly, this stuff is completely not needed here. The OP asks a question that has no answer, and I take exception to referring to the Fascinate as "lowly".

Does the step from Froyo to Gingerbread equivocate to Eclair to Froyo?

After reading here.Android 2.3 Platform Highlights | Android Developers

..the step may be marginal compared to Eclair--Froyo. Apart from improved battery and application management...I don't know if this is as exciting as landing on the Froyo Pastures of Flash, SD card movement, voice dialing, etc from Eclair.

Thusly, unless Gingerbread is going to make my phone do my laundry, I think I can handle waiting for it..

The FroYo discussion thread was one of the most active threads on this forum, and I don't see why this could be any different. As long as the thread remains civil it will stay open

Outstanding!!!! I did not realize that. Is that because of something in the official 2.2 OTA? Good to know there is hope for MAC users.

Not sure. I never rooted or installed a leaked 2.2. But last night I plugged it in and it worked better than ever.

The changes may be minor compared to Eclair to Froyo, but Samsung has all their little tweaks and adjustments to their phones that they need to update for GB. Not to mention all the various carrier bloatware that they'll have to test and retest to make sure it doesn't brick phones.

JT just posted an alpha build of cyanogen mod 7, which is gingerbread, for the fascinate over at xda. Fyi for those of you that are asking "Can I haz gingerbread?" :D

Yes, the familiar faces are still around until they kick us out. I think for mental and overall health and sanity, it's probably a good idea for everyone to take a break from the forums every now and then.

Exactly my point...there's no need to get worked up about the next update, which, humbly in my opinion is minimal when comparing the one we just had.. It's like a teenager asking his dad when he's going to upgrade his 2010 Mercedes Benz to the 2011 model, when the dad just took the kid from a beat up 92 Ford Probe to the Benz..

My humble mumblings..

EDIT: Sorry I digressed..Yes I think one day we will see Gbread.. but it's bittersweet, and less exciting than the Froyo we just received..(a month ago for me..)
