Will We See Gingerbread?

MODS -- Please kill this thread. Honestly, this stuff is completely not needed here. The OP asks a question that has no answer, and I take exception to referring to the Fascinate as "lowly".

It's called sarcasm. Take a look at my other posts and you will find I am very happy with the fascinate. Also there should be plenty of answers to my question considering it was asking for opinions from forum members.

can i start a wheres honeycomb thread????

You'd probably have better luck with a where's Ice Cream thread :)

Is it too early to start the Yoohoo or Zagnut threads? :p

Now this is what I'm talking about... This is the light hearted banter I was looking for.

What more does Gingerbread bring besides NFC stuff, a better keyboard, and a flashier interface? 2.2 was significantly more of an update than 2.3 so for now I am sated

I feel like there would be a few performance updates to make it play more nicely with the Hummingbird processor. This is just a guess though... I imagine it could be true with the Nexus S, the first Gingerbread phone, being nothing more than a glorified Galaxy S phone.

In most purposes, they are referring to the i9000 for the Galaxy S update. Although it says the entire Galaxy S lineup, it may be a while before the i500 (Fascinate) sees the update.

I'll classify this as a "wishy-washy" type of announcement. My Fascinate says "Galaxy S" on it but I doubt that's what they're referring to...

how is it not refering to the Galaxy S fascinate, do you know any other Galaxy S line in north america?

yeah, I have a nice "Galaxy S" Stamped on the back of my Fascinate.

Maybe Samsung only means the Captivate, Vibrant, and all of those other phones not named Galaxy S.;)

North America does mean Canada also. So that would be an i9000 not the i500. But this is for a stock Galaxy S GB release. Verizon had Froyo a long time before we got it, but they had to Bing it up. Which means, VZW should be getting GB in the summer time, but it will take a while before they release it to us, just like Froyo.

Not a big deal, I love my COM ROM 2.2. It runs like crazy!!!

I think we will see it for the Fascinate after today's announcement. I will be looking forward to what the devs here do with it, should be great if the Community ROM is any indication. :D
