Will you be downloading BBM when it becomes available?

Good call. I bought z10 before the news. If i knew this news before, I might stick with old bb, and buy galaxy when BBM for android arrive.
Although bb10 is superb OS, (fast and the keyboard is great), I love the variety of android apps. Its like everything can be tweak, or adjusted. And lots of great free apps :D
The community is great too!!

I was long time blackberry user and bb pearl was my first bb but lack of some app forced me to android. I do miss the keyboard but since I started using SwiftKey with swipe I now think qwerty keyboard is waste of time :) (personal opinion) and BBM coming to android was all I needed to stick with android

I didn't use BBM or any other annoying chat app when I was a Blackberry user...I'm sure as heck not going to start now!

I will try, but will search for contacts to use it with. I'm with everyone else when they say it's a tad late.

I have an old BB curve lying around in the box...untouched. Maybe I'll activate a business line (on top of the 5 lines I have now) and get that puppy runnin'!! Then, I can download BB messenger onto my One and chat with myself endlessly. I know...people will think I'm crazy but I'm not....I have papers to prove it.

Nope I didnt use bbm too much when I had a blackberry. So no reason for me to use it now .:)

I most likely will because I like downloading things but as of right now, I've been using Hangouts for my chatting needs.

0% chance.

If I was an unscrupulous comic book villain, I would consider downloading it so I could rate it 1 star before removing it; but don't care that much and that's dishonest and I don't wear a cape.

Might not wear a cape but it looks like your wearing a green helmet, green miniskirt, and a red corset. Wouldn't those count??? :)

Some may disagree with men in mini-skirts; but none can deny that Marvin rocks it.

LOL ! I'd like to see Marvin take off them sneakers and put on some high heels!! Wait a second......If my wife were to ever read my comments....

I miss the days of road runner, bugs bunny, Marvin, porkey pig.....those were the days!

I have a question. I am not familiar with these types of chat apps except for Hangouts. When BBM comes out, if I want to use it will the people I am messaging have to have it as well, or will it send my message to them using whatever means necessary be it a chat, SMS, etc? I assume they'll have to have it like Hangouts. If I can use it, and it is capable of delivering my message to them however they receive messages, then yes I will try it. If they have to have it, then what the heck is the point of using it if everyone I know is already on Hangouts now?

I would be shocked if Hangouts doesn't eventually put BBM to shame.

No. Simply because there's no intensive or any useful features.
I'm pretty pumped about the Hangouts and can't wait until Google integrated G Voice and SMS into it. It's all sync'd with my Google account and it's part of my Google ecosystem. So yeah, no need for 3rd party messaging app..... a little too late for that

There are enough people who at one point or another used and really liked BBM. If the company gets it right and enough people catch on it could be the go-to client, regardless of how deeply integrated Hangout is.

I think most of the people who at one point used BBM have passed on. So unless there's some enduring family legacy and tales, I don't know that the ancient past will swing BBM back into the forefront of anything except disappointing apps.

It sounds like we're getting closer to the cross platform release of BBM on iOS and Android!

I'm super excited and to answer the OP's question I will definitely be downloading it. It's really the only thing I miss about Blackberry.

I haven't taken up with Whatsapp or any of these other messengers. For me hangouts and FB is too invasive.

I hope they do a good job with it!!!
