Will you be downloading BBM when it becomes available?

The last I heard it is supposed to be released for iOS & android by the end of September. Someone on another thread stated Blackberry always releases things on Tuesdays- so allegedly that would put us at 09/24/13 at the latest. We'll see!

I just now read that they may release it in October.

And I'm pretty sure it's all Apple's fault. I mean what else could it be? The app is ready, they're just waiting on Apple.

I'm sure you guys have heard that bbm is becoming multi platform.

As a One and Q10 user, I'm pretty damn excited. It's by far the best chat app in my opinion

All of my colleagues have gone Android or iPhone. The few BB stalwarts gave up and moved on to a new platform. One close friend who was the last one to have a BB device showed up one day to work with his brand new Android phone. Even the family members in Mexico that had BB have moved on. So. Nope. Don't see a need for it.

The majority of my friends and family members used to own BBs as well. I myself used to have a BB before switching to iPhone and now an HTC One. A lot have switched to Android smartphones, only a few of my friends/family members are still stuck with BBs but only because they're waiting till BBM gets released for iPhone and Android and when this happens they'll dump theirs in a second and they can't wait for that day to come. They're still with BB because of BBM and nothing more.

My organization (and many others) also have abandoned Blackberry for iOS and Android- but most everyone I talk to that ever had BBM misses it.

I tried, but never fell in love with whatsapp and other similar apps. I know they are immensely popular. They just didn't SEEM mainstream or noteworthy enough to me.

iMessage has apple behind it, talk/hangouts has Google behind it, BBM has blackberry (or what's left of it). For some reason that makes a difference in my opinion of these apps.

Plus its nice that unlike FB and Hangouts, BBM is just a messenger. Its not trying to integrate into something else like your "wall" or something. Sometimes on FB/Hangouts I have been worried if I'm sending a message or posting something public. Sure, I've never done it, and i know its silly- but stranger things have happened whilst being inebriated.

Never saw what the fascination is with BBM. Don't others have to have it as well for you to talk on it?

Yes but what's wrong with that? Don't you use WhatsApp?

The advantage to having BBM for me was just being able to text over WiFi if you don't have any phone service. Our lake house and my family's summer home are both BLACK HOLES for cellular service. I can't stand to feel marooned every other weekend. I hate having to stand in one area to text. Sure there are many other apps that do the same thing as BBM - this was just my favorite among them! I also liked the group chats :)

No? I use the default texting through T-Mobile. I use a third party messaging app (chompsms).

Never knew the fascination with whatsapp either.. Haven't looked into it. If it requires my friends to all use it that's more inconvenient I'd think since I'd have to convince them all to download and use the app versus just texting them like normal.

I could see that being useful. I get this with T-Mobile wifi calling though so no app needed... And even my calls go through the wifi when home due to this feature. :)
