Droid of the Rings

One Droid to rule them all,
One Droid to find them,
One Droid to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them

and put the iphone to shame

With the Incredible, I would be doing my part to rid this world of iPhone arrogance (something I'm not proud of - I really need help! - I really need an Incredible!)

I would love to finally experience a phone powered by Android & the Incredible seems to be the best available. I'm really intrigued by the ability to tether and also the open source nature of android.

Coming from a non-smartphone having an Incredible would finally bring me up to speed with the 21st century. Oh who am I kidding, this phone is light years more advanced than anything. And it running Android, it would be the best, most easily customized smartphone out there! With it I could ditch all my other devices for a single INCREDIBLE device that, from the looks of it, could help me take over this planet. But that wouldn't be it, I would go and make a Galactic Empire. Naturally Iphone or any APPLE follower would be the Rebel Alliance.

The feat I will be able to accomplish if I win the incredible is the feat of getting a phone that doesnt suck. I have had the worst string of phones in the last few years including the Moto Q, LG Voyager and LG Dare. I need this phone so I can actually get work done using my phone. The web browser alone will accomplish that for me. God I hope I win this!!!

I'll finally be able to pry my Droid out of my wifes hands and make a choice on which Smartphone she can now have!!

Imagine this...
You're at work wondering if you left the garage door open, so you wipe out your Incredible and check!
You're on vacation and want to make it look like someone's home, so you wipe out your Incredible and turn on and off a few lights at home!
You have a maintenance person scheduled to come by while you're gone, so you wipe out your Incredible when it alerts you someone's at your house, verify it's them with your front door camera, and open the door for them!

I plan to use the Incredible to complete my home automation setup (admittedly a work in progress) by using it as a mobile front-end GUI for complete control of my home via a variety of web interfaces and home automation apps from the Android Market.

This phone would allow me to be an Incredible Dad!
My wife and I are expecting a new baby in a couple of weeks and I could use the Incredible Camera to take pictures and video of our new super baby!

Mr. Incredible

My wife calls me "Mr. Incredible". If I win a Verizon Droid Incredible, I'll make her call it Mr. Incredible as well. Then, I'll be in her pants all day long! LOL

Since learning of the incredible I have updated all of my contacts and added pictures. Tagged a lot of MP3 collection including several bootlegs that never had any tags to begin with. I have learned about AppBrian and set up stuff to download. I have learned about screen protectors. I will compairson shop with the barcode scanner. I will have streaming radio for long road trips. Turn by turn directions when we are lost. Google Googles to figure out what that monument is. I will convert others to Android. IF that's not incredible enough I will also remember the milk when I am at the grocery store. Use the TV out for presentations and share pictures with family. IF I win this contest I will give the incredible to my finace' who is not eligible to upgrade right now and convert her to Android Central. I will spend more time with her showing her how to use it, set it up, etc and that just might be incredible enough to pull me away from the computer.

I probably won't do anything that is incredible to most people. But having a phone I can use to surf the internet, listen to music, get turn-by-turn directions, etc. is truly incredible to me, considering I currently have an old first generation Samsung Alias, no iPod, and no GPS. Plus, if I get the Incredible, I can give the Alias to my dad, who still has a 4-year-old, came-free-with-contract, Motorola flip phone. Having a full keyboard would be incredible to him, so basically, by giving me the Incredible, you will make things for both my dad and I pretty...incredible.

I'm going to walk up to my friend who constantly shows off his iPhone, I'm going to open up a few different programs, and diarrhea fart in his face while using Twitter, Facebook and my camera all at once. HTC Incredible ftw.

This phone would allow me to achieve...

1. World peace
2. An end to hunger
3. Amazing unforeseen medical advancements.

Not to mention being able to...

1. Send text messages at all hours of day and night to Obama & my other friends in DC with all my great ideas
2. Master all graphic 3-D games available

and, finally, I would be able to (I hope) disappoint Steve Jobs by the large number of porn apps I will not be using.

The incredible feat will be to finally do the things I have been unable to do with the Motorola hardware for my Droid. Namely, I'll be able to use the headphone jack without the crackle or it randomly launching my music player. I'll be able to reliably charge my phone and know that it's actually charging and not lying to me. And finally, I'll be able to fill my SD card with music and podcasts and not have to reformat every couple days, when my Droid tells me it's damaged. That would truly be Incredible.

I was planning to purchase the Incredible when it came out. I have the money currently sitting in my checking account waiting for 4/29. The camera looked good enough that I could use it as a decent backup to my Pentax gear, and I really enjoy the Android ecosystem. I have a 3 month old Droid that I was going to replace it with - that's how tech-toy addicted I am.

Then, I read a status update from an acquaintance that alerted us to the fact that she had to go back into the hospital. This particular person is in stage 2 kidney failure and is unable to work and doesn't have insurance. To get by, she customizes shoes with artwork for commission (rhionna dot tumblr dot com). Suddenly, a new phone didn't seem that important to me. The money I have set aside for the phone will now be going to commission multiple pairs of shoes to give away in a contest (details are still being worked out).

I have no illusions about winning this contest, nor do I really care to. Some people have posted some great replies and deserve to win. If I can get one person reading this thread to go to the previously mentioned site .... if I can get that to snowball and get complete strangers to link to it and maybe generate some interest for her work, then I will have done something decent, and that's "Incredible" enough for me.

Thank you for letting me post this, I hope that this is ok in the context of the thread, and I hope everyone has a great and wonderful day.

Time to stop the bad language!

This phone (an Incredible) would stop me from cursing out my current phone every time I use it!

I have a Samsung i910 and WANT A REAL PHONE!!!!!

To own a piece of techie art...

What wouldn't I do with the HTC Droid Incredible? I'd start with being able to make a phone call without my phone shutting down on its own. I could check my email, update our baseball team's website as it's happening. I wouldn't get the error messages my blackberry gives about unable to download everything! I could take photo's with an 8 megapixel camera and video then instantly share with the world. Multi-tasking with 7 pages sounds impressive. I would not get lost in this big, crazy world with the google maps. A battery that wouldn't run half way down after talking for 16 minutes...I would be dreaming to have a device that could go hand-in-hand with me through my everyday moments in life. I call it "Techie Art" because it is a rather sleek and sexy looking unit. From the sounds of it, it behaves as great as it looks. Sure, I'd love to own this marvel as so many others would. Alas, I hope I get picked...if not, the person who does get the honor of winning this contest better take care of this beautiful beast!

The Incredible First Response Phone

I was thinking about the Nexus; how it was supposedly coming soon to Verizon. After getting excited about it, I see today that THEY (Google, HTC, Verizon, some one) have decided to not release the Nexus on Verizon, opting instead for the Incredible.

I work for an EMS service in Tennessee, and I have been trying to develop an App for Android that will, when held near a patient, report the pulse, respirations, heart rate, body temperature, and whether the patient has insurance or not. This last part is proving to be the hardest, as I have not yet found a means of making the phone determine if a patient is telling the truth.
I am sure if any phone can, this Incredible can. I also heard a rumor that it has a polygraph chip in it, so I should be able to access it, that is IF I can get one and get it rooted!

I have little money, as most of my inventions don't pan out, but I'm not sure why??...
Thanks for helping me make the EMS World a better place, with more accurate detection of trolls (Non-insured frequent flyers!) LOL ;)

PS - This is all in good fun now, so don't worry.
