Win a Samsung Droid Charge! @DroidLanding Twitter contest

Well hopefully Atlanta isn't one of the cities tomorrow or Friday. I want it to have to be a weekday find. Since I'm a grad student, I have a ton of flexibility.

I'm so glad I found this thread. For the past couple days I've been feeling stupid for not getting the "scan" stuff.

I think it's a good thing people aren't going so crazy over this device, because not as many will bother with the hunt hehe :P

Based on the map updates, I'm guessing Philly and Houston are on Saturday. Looks like a few more maps simply zoomed in, providing no new information. The real question will be what the lat-longs are for Seattle and Chicago. If they match what's on the maps, this will be really lame.

OMG I feel like such an idiot...

I just drove ~2 hours each way to see what was at [29.182402763710463, -98.70277315378189].

It turns out it was this dirt road, all rutty, and right where it says it is via GPS, was a locked gate and a bunch of really scary looking homes all around there. It was totally pitch black out there too. I felt like in the movie Deliverance... I only went because from the night before the coordinates were changed, and they were literally like 2 blocks away from the new location. So down I went (from ATX to SA) in hopes I would find something... :(

Anyways, this is really stupid and unsafe if they are providing GPS coordinates to rural farms and government buildings, etc.. Someone is likely to get in trouble or else shot at. I was packing tonight just in case, in fact. :D (CHL)

Anyways, I just thought I'd post up and y'all know about the SA location. I think it's a joke with these GPS numbers right now.. Hopefully in a few days we'll know more..

Last night's Minneapolis coordinates were First Ave. If that had been the final coordinates i'd have hopped on the bus in my pajamas.

No, not really. it bleepin snowed a little last night. Too cold for pajamas.

What about with a bathrobe too?

I'm curious about when the first two "land" today. It's already 12:30 in Chicago and 10:30 in Seattle. And you have four hours upon landing.

Well, if I was wearing a bathrobe I'd have had to bring along a towel. Shuffling around in a bathrobe is just too Arthur Dent to not also have a towel.

Ok so it seems that the devices discovered weren't at the exact coords BUT were within a few blocks of them... So my question is, are the tickets out there waiting for us, or are they not there until the final day/few hours?

I live pretty close to one, and I could go look some, but I don't want to waste my time... and if I can avoid waiting till the last second and have to compete with 20+ people, I would prefer that :o

I'm pretty sure they don't officially place it until it lands. Otherwise someone not participating could walk away with it or throw it out. I speculate the get to the site the day of and set up a little bit in advance then tweet the location.

Best I can guess is you're going to compete with 20+ people unless it's put in front of your house/work. It's all about access.

I hope they do the Rochester one (this is the first one they have ever done in upstate NY) on Saturday or Sunday so i can actually participate. I am a college student about an hour away :( what are your expectations on when that one should be revealed.

Based on what they've posted, NYC, Minneapolis, and Phoenix should be today. Philly and Houston should be tomorrow.

It all depends on what gets updated tonight. San Jose is already listed so potentially they're next. But I have no idea.

I hope san jose is any day but Sunday cuz im busy 4-8pm which seems to be when they do their thing lol

EDIT: AAAAAAND figures! They announce it'll be reveled the ONLY day throughout the whole scavenger hunt time that I'll be busy :/

EDIT: HMM looks like they do some pretty early... I'm really it busy till later in the day so maybe I'll get lucky ;)

Figures they'd split the sixteen over the eight days. That sucks though. I was really hoping Atlanta wouldn't be Saturday and it worked out. Now I just would like not Tuesday but I'll skip (or be late to) my plans to try and win instead.

I can't bleepin believe it. It really WAS at First Ave this whole time. Final coordinates. And they didn't do an early hint; they just straight up announced it so now by the time I could get over there somebody will have gotten there first.

I'm surprised it didn't move. But I still maintain that the voucher isn't there until the day of - if not only slightly in advance. There's too much risk otherwise and it would ruin their videos and pictures as well. Everyone's looking around and someone else just walks up and is like "KAPOW! I had it last week!" But suppose you were lucky enough to see them setting up, would they disqualify you on those grounds?

I really think if you want to win it, you need to have three things. You just have to be doing nothing at all, hope that you're nearby, and just be lucky. Being closest will at least give you some lead time but there's still a lot of luck.

I do an annual scavenger hunt in Atlanta and if you want to plan the next year, you have to win. When trying to win, we came in 2nd, 2nd, 5th, and won. A lot of it was luck in terms of driving time and the other part was whether you clicked on solving the clues to get to the next site.

Yeah, I'm planning on going to the san jose location tomorrow pretty early... depending on how early they start it today... the updated location is like 2 miles or less from my house or ;)

I'm waiting for the San Antonio one to get a bit closer. You can tell which zoomlevel means it will be revealed in the next 24 hours. Houston and San Jose and Philly today for sure.. They said Philly and Houston on the twitter feed just a bit ago, but I say San Jose is going today too. Too bad I moved 3 years ago, but now I live in Austin and am planning a trip down in 1-2 days for the San Antonio one (only 1.5 hours away so worth it IMHO). Any advice you could PM me would be appreciated!! Thanks!
