[WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA

Here are some things I encountered in the PRL hack.

When I turn diag on, I get Other devices > HTC DIAG in Device Manager. I try updating the drivers for that, and it fails. I've tried with both the x86 drivers and x64 drivers. This is on a Gateway M-1625, with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit. I've tried turning diag on and off, USB debugging on and off, and changing USB connection modes.
I figured out what I was doing wrong. Just follow the driver installation portion of this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697487&highlight=cdma+workshop

In the "add port" window, step 10C, type COM# (where # is the port) in both the "Port" and "Port Label" boxes. Don't be dumb like me and only type it in one, or add spaces.

After writing, I got this popup right after the screen went black:

The mobile reported the following errors while writing NV items:
.........NV item........................Status
.........NV_UE_IMEI_I..............NV_READONLY_S

Is that popup normal? Did it work?

Im glad to here you figured out the drivers. I will try to add that to the OP with credit again. And the popup is not normal at all. It seemes like you either A) actually dont have s-off ?? But we rooted... so thats not it or B) you entered your MSL wrong into the popup

Root worked for me, I am just patiently waiting for a custom ROM. If you need any more testers, please let me know.

Here we go, more and more devices are getting rooted, opening the relm of development. Im glad to accept your help as a tester as well. Ill add your name to the OP and we can get started.
PS currently my phone is ticking me off, because im teathering it to download the CM sources, because it keeps saying that im error 104ing (Basically VM put teather protection in there)

I did the s-off and rooted also, but i cant seem to install the custom recovery.

I did the s-off and rooted also, but i cant seem to install the custom recovery.

My method is just the easiest ive found.Remember this has to be done on the same S-off gold card only you delete the 2 files from the S-off procedure. If this doesnt work we can flash via ADB

ok i got it to work, i forgot to take off the 2 files from the s-off procedure, thanks!

Okay, Thanks for the feedback. Glad to help you out. Remember now to delete the .zip with the recovery in it, if you try to boot into hboot again it will try to install the recovery again if you dont
Let me know if you try anymore tips, and how they work for you

I entered the MSL correctly and I double checked, I do have S-OFF. :( Any other ideas?

edit - I tried putting in the wrong MSL intentionally and it tells you right away that you're wrong.

I keep getting an error when I am entering in my port number. It goes as follows...

Error enabling #, the port may not be working properly or may be busy.

Change your port number to a greater number then try again. There is a hardware conflict going on here

Um lets see, other ideas:
Try again, lol...
Go to setting>About>Software Information and check and see if your PRL is 60681
... Try again...
Change your COM PORT to a different number MAYBE a hw conflict??
Try a different computer?
let us know

I mentioned this in your other thread, but just wanted to say THANK YOU again for this great guide. Now that I've successfully S-OFF'd, rooted, and intalled custom recovery on my daughter's phone, I'd like to figure out a way to get her more space. I know on my HTC Desire, I'm using cMTD, which resizes the partitions, giving me back some of the space that was in system. Do you know if anything like this exists for this phone? Could anyone port the script we use on the Desire to this phone?

I should mention that I'm a US Cellular customer, but since we also have a CDMA version of this phone, the process you describe for rooting, etc., works great! I'd be happy to test a rom if you think it will work for us, however, without cMTD, I'm not sure the benefit (other than I like CM better than Sense . . . however my daughter doesn't . . lol).

At any rate . . . great work! It's appreciated!

EDIT: Here's a link where they are using cMTD on the Wildfire if it's of any help:

Edit: Nvm was offering help as it looked like no one was on it. Where I see at xda there a few people on the game, with more time to put forth than I would be able to do.

peteseiler2010: Please try another computer or try to reinstall windows from scratch.
mkm1126: CM can be themed to look like sense maybe even sense ported to it. Im looking into it. As of repartitioning it, not a good idea. I looked at it and it can be very dangerous. I reccomend just using my Link2Sd tutorial. It is what your looking for;)
2fast4u88: if you got any suggestions, you can IM me at simonsimons34@gmail.com Ill me happy to take suggestions

I went to Settings > About phone > Software information, and the PRL version IS 60681. Yay! Maybe the error is irrelevant.

Thanks for the reply! My main issue is that more rom is needed in data, which cMTD could do. Once CM is ready, there would be lots of unused space in data that could be reallocated to system. Just or of curiosity, why do you think it would be dangerous? I have been using it without issue on my Desire for a year now, but maybe I shouldn't?

I'm not a developer, but if you need any testers for your rom, just let me know. I'd be happy to help!
