Wipe between nandroid restores?

I know its recommended you do wipes before flashing a rom, but when restoring nandroid backups, do you need to also wipe the cache, dalvik cache, etc, or can you just go ahead and restore the nandroid over top of your current one?

I have never noticed anything when switching between backups.
although I've only gone from stock to stock deodexed. I don't see anything carrying over.

ive never had a problem by not wiping. pretty sure it does that right before it restores it.

I have had problems if I didn't wipe with some recoverys. So I do wipe between.

It in no way can hurt to wipe before restoring a backup.
