most folks believe wired would be faster (even now in this age of pretty advanced bluetooth!) and more reliable.

i don't see why wired is any less convenient than wireless as for wireless, you'd need to keep the phones within 4" or so of each other, so using wired isn't really an inconvenience per se.

in terms of the type of usb-c cable used, as there is a usb-c cable that came in the box with the S26 Ultra, should i use that cable?

one would think they would include a suitably high end cable for such a costly phone, right?

so i did the smart switch just now. wired is clearly much faster. it's not even comparable, despite the most current bluetooth protocol we have on the S26 Ultra.

I took, did the wired switch.
Even still there are a lots of stuff that needs to be reset manually.

wireless, effortless!!

for the xfer, switch to samsung messages on old phone for all to xfer!!

you can always swap back app of choice!!

I did my husband's wireless and mine wired. I have WAY more stuff on my phone to transfer and my phone got done much faster than his. Both were easy peasy though

Using Smart Switch is easy either way. I had my S24 ultra backup on my PC just in case. Also Because I have videos, pictures and music I needed to transfer. So I did use Smartswich wireless initially. Went well but some of my apps didn't transfer but since I had my PC backup I ran that it was quick and all my apps music pics and videos transferred. So I was all set then

I did wireless. It took over 5 hours to transfer everything. Lesson learned. Only doing wired going forward.
Right!

Not even comparable. Despite the most current Bluetooth protocol we have on the S26 Ultra, my wired transfer was much much faster.

I also googled whether Samsung themselves suggest wired or wireless, and I was led to a Samsung site's page saying wired preferred, but wireless acceptable but must keep ~within 4" of the other phone.
