wirefly vs VZW

However, I believe the wirefly insurance doesn't cover water damage (my kids seem to think a phones place is in the toilet) or lost/stolen.

We ship from our distribution center in Largo, Maryland. Let me know if there is anything else that I can do to help. :)
Some people have said that Wirefly will also honor the NE2 credit from Verizon, but the person I talked to there said no. Can you clarify, please?

Thanks, Robrecht

dang. you're right.
in NC--tax= 8.25%
so on the $649.99 pricemark, tax=$53.62

so that's already a $103.62 savings.
just sucks if the delivery takes too long. Standard delivery? where do the phones actually ship from?

I'm pretty sure NC only taxes you on what you pay, not the full price, because I don't remember any shock when I bought two Droids a year ago during their 2-for-1 sale.

Are you in Charlotte/Mecklenburg? You can save 0.50% by going outside of Meck. Try the Vzw corporate store at Concord Mills.

The main difference, besides price, between Wirefly and Verizon is the secondary contract that Wirefly makes you commit to... They are not a direct channel reseller like Best Buy, so they have a secondary contract that will charge your credit card if you cancel your contract or change some features.

why yes i am, Richard---ha, just noticed you were in the same area, too. South Charlotte's VZW stores are, sadly, pretty poor in reputation.
going thru all 3 cost-scenarios and weighing how fast i want the phone vs how much i want to pay, it's aggrevating, ha.
i might just do Wirefly if i can figure out plan details. if not, i'll be ordering online. i've no time to drive to ConcordMills---wedding this weekend.

Wirefly DOES charge tax

its more then a $50 difference. Dont forget Verizon will tax you on the full retail price . So thats another $50 at least. So Wirefly is about $100 cheaper.

Wrong, wirefly will also charge you tax, but not the retail price ($1.50 difference for my area):

Subtotal $669.99

Estimated Taxes (for zip code 20170) $33.50

You Pay Today $703.49

I was thinking for trying out Wirefly until I realized that I have almost $600 in credits from Verizon. I sent in a couple of old phones and got credit for those and then I had a beef with Verizon and the CS agent gave me another $132 credit because she felt it was a legitimate beef. Was going to call Wirefly but then it popped into my head that I wouldn't be able to use those credits to buy the phone so I'll be heading out to a Verizon store.

Wirefly does charge sales tax. I went int to check it out and it put the normal $10.00 sales tax for my area.

mine shows up as no sales tax for new jersey... but i am wondering if vzw will waive the activation fee...

As for the Insurance, VZW's will usually require a deductible for the claim. The Device Protection that we offer does not require a deductible, and it will make sure you get a brand new phone when you file a claim. It is $50 for one year.

Can I purchase the Wirefly insurance on a phone that I buy elsewhere?

Just pre-ordered a Bolt on wirefly. Feels so good!

Is anyone else wary about ordering from a secondary shop? I'm scared they'll mess up my account or VZ won't honor the phone when I try to add insurance, or something...wondering if its just worth getting it from VZ just so they don't give me problems down the line.

Edit: Just saw the warning about Wirefly...great info!

Hi Wirefly, if we pre-ordered last night and live in the Northeast Corridor (between Washington DC and Boston), when do you think we can expect to receive the Thunderbolt? Friday or Saturday maybe?

My order status currently says "Approved - Awaiting Inventory". Thanks!

Edit: This is with the free standard shipping. I read somewhere that last year Wirefly's pre-order for Sprint's EVO, FedEx Home Delivery arrived for some people the next day (Saturday) after the phone was released on Friday.

You can also order through a cashback site like fatwallet, and get $25 back on an order through Wirefly.

Wirefly only charges sales taxe in states where they have a physical presence, namely VA. If you're outside VA, I don't think you will be charged sales tax.

And for those ordering from Wirefly, use these coupon codes for freebies (can only use one or the other, not both):

Free bluetooth headset, enter this coupon code at checkout: TBBT
Free 4GB MicroSD card, enter this coupon code at checkout: WIREFLYMC11

@Wirefly

If I purchase the Thunderbolt or any other Verizon phone from you, will I be able to take it to Verizon for repairs/replacements while it's still under manufacturer's warranty like any phone that I would purchase at the Verizon Wireless store? Or would I be required to mail it back? If I need to mail it back, will you honor the one year manufacturer's warranty? Or will I be required to purchase your wireless device warrant for this?

Thanks!

Sounds like they're just charging you tax on what you actually pay. Verizon will charge you tax on the entire price. 5% tax on $200 = $10, 5% tax on $650 = $32.50.
