Some tips:
- Get an American rep if you want detailed policy info.
- If porting a number, you have to do it during the original application.
- Don't be spooked about inventory delays. It takes about 24hrs to get confirmation through VZW, and then will likely ship the day after that.
- Customer service - 866-276-9578. Other numbers may take you to a message without access to a human being.
An explanation:
I ordered through WF because the BoA 'Add It Up' promotion made it $150 shipped. Going through VZW (with corp discount) would be $247 after tax.
I called a couple times and got the best information from an American rep. The Filipino reps seem to be limited to their CSR flowsheet.
Placing the order online is straightforward. If you're upgrading you need your VZW acct number and _PIN_. I had to call VZW to get my PIN. If you're porting, you need that phone's account number.
I wasn't worried about the 6 month contract - I don't plan on changing anything for at least that long, if not for 2 years. If you're porting a number, you have to do it when you sign up with WF. If you port a number later, you violate the WF contract and have to pay the fee.
I ordered 2 nights ago. Yesterday evening my order changed from 'processing' to 'awaiting inventory'. This morning the status changed back to 'processing'. I got spooked, and called cust svc to clarify. She said there was nothing wrong with the order. They just got a new supply of TBirds and it was probably just getting ready to ship, hence the 'processing' note. As we were speaking the status changed to 'shipping'.
