Sounds like they're just charging you tax on what you actually pay. Verizon will charge you tax on the entire price. 5% tax on $200 = $10, 5% tax on $650 = $32.50.

Are we sure that Verizon will charge on the retail price of the phone? I've read that they only do that in California where the law requires it.

That is correct. Verizon (and other operators) will charge sales tax on the full retail price only where required by state law. California and 2 or 3 others are the only ones that require this, most states do not.

PA only charges sales tax on the price I paid for, and not the full retail price.

Didn't try that one. Just reporting what was on Slick Deals. I did try the other for the memory card and that worked as of this morning.

I just did a mock purchase of a iphone to see what tax would be charged I did this on Best Buy and live in NJ it only charged $14.00 tax thats 7% of the $199.99 for the phone so it is not based on full retail here in NJ and the only reason it charged tax was because BB can charge tax for where you live if they have a stand alone store in that state.

FYI

I decided to order from wirefly (thanks for the 4gb minisd code yall). I went into my local Corp. Verizon store and they said as long as I came in before the end of the month, they could activate their insurance on the phone. They said it would "most likely" be similar to other android phones, and not like the iphone or tablets.

so here is a question, new to verizon. If you get a corp code and purchase through wirefly how do you get that applied? do you have to go to a verizon store and have them add it or can you just call verizon or can wirefly add it to it?

If you ordered from wirefly, like me, have you seen any updates to your order? I did an online chat session to verify my mailing address was updated correctly and I was told the phones would ship based on order of approval from VZ (I'm a new vz customer). And when I checked their site it no longer said shipping 3/17. Just wondering if they ran out of inventory on the first night of the presale and cannot guarantee 3/17 shipping anymore. Also on my order status page it states "your order is nearly complete. We apologize for the inconvenience but the phone you ordered is extremely popular. We receive shipments of additional phones daily and will fulfill out of stock doers in the order they are received."

Mind you I ordered at maybe 12:30 am when the presale went live. Anyone else see the same thing?
