Does anyone have experience with the WD 2TB My Passport wireless external portable hard drive? Data on it says it is compatible with Android. You can also connect via USB cable. I am currently using a WD 500gb USB powered drive. I purchased a adapter cable that connects to my Tab 12.2, an AC adapter and the external hard drive. It works great. The only issue I have is the cable adapter does not charge the Tab.

It's the cable adapter. The thing may no be designed to change the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2.

Your post does not make it clear what you have connected to what.

Maybe what you need to charge the Pro while using a hard drive is a powered USB hub. Connect the hard drive to the hub, and connect the hub to your Pro using the standard charging cable that came with the pro when you bought it.

CORRECTION!: After thinking about it, I suspect you cannot use the usb connection for data and charging at the same time, but a powered hub means that any devices connected to the hub will not draw power from the Pro.

Madaudio you're right. It wasn't very clear. I've attached a photo to explain my current set up. It works fine but I can't charge my tablet and user the external drive at the same time. This is why I'm looking at the wireless drive. I can connect to it wirelessly of course and if need be I can charge either the tablet or hard drive or both at the same time (different cables of course)

My interpretation of that cable is that it is meant to power the drive, not your pro. It is similar to some other devices eg screen mirroring devices which connect to a tv via hdmi, and which can be powered either by plugging into a usb port on the tv, or if the tv does not have a usb port, you can plug into a normal charger. But it is the device that is receiving the power, not the tablet.
I could be wrong here, but that is my take on the photograph of the cable you have given us.
Is there any paper work that came with you drive that might explain this?
Anyone else here with a comment?

That's exactly how it works. The tablet will not get charged using this cable. That is why I'm looking at the wireless hard drive.
