Wireless Fast Charge....No More

That "cheap" third-party charger has been working fine with multiple Samsung devices for several years and that includes the new S21 5G for the first month until the most recent system "upgrade".

Third-party gear doesn't necessarily mean cheap, but branded gear does usually mean over-priced. Sometimes for good reason, but often for no reason other than they can.

It's good you are keeping an open mind.

I have an open mind but come on, Choetech is as cheap (crappy) as you can get. They sent me some of their stuff for review in the past and it was mostly real cheap garbage. Maybe try a Samsung, Anker or some other brand and see if the problem still exists.

They are cheap... But so what?

The point is they shouldn't work fine one day and then be killed by a software update with no real explanation.

My Galaxy S21 G5 from T-Mobile just got an update, guess what? Now on my formerly perfectly functional charger it states fast charging is disabled! :-[

What brand/model/spec charger are you using?

Is Fast Charging enabled on the phone? Settings > Battery and Device Care > Battery > More Battery Settings > Fast Wireless Charging enabled?

It's a brand-X that I bought on Amazon, TOZO NO:W1 I don't see this as terribly significant, this charger worked perfectly before the T-Mobile update. With the vast quantity of people with the same complaint, it's clear that the software update changed something about fast charging.

I asked because most users with non-Samsung charging equipment experienced the failure back with the March or April updates. If you just recently purchased your device and this was your first update that might explain why it only occurred now, in July.

No, it isn't fair and there is no good reason why Samsung did this. We are all in the same boat with equipment that worked fine fast charging one day and POOF....not any more.

I bought 2 adaptive fast chargers from Groupon maybe a month or 2 ago and that works with fast charging on my new S21 ultra. The older high speed chargers do not work. Not only do they not send you a new charger with your phone almor $1,400 phonebut they obsoleted the ones you had.

Samsung needs the money

Somebody at Samsung said today that the USB c charges faster than the USB, We're talking about the skinny cable now. I wonder if that's true.

I just went out to my car I have a new Hyundai Sonata and it has a charge plate for your phone. It doesn't work, even with the case off. I'll have to see what they say on Reddit.

The wall chargers aren't that much money you can get two 3.0's Adaptive high speed for $15 on Amazon. I'm wondering how they do with charge plates. I have no trouble buying extra chargers but you would think that they would send you one of them since what you got at home will not work and then they send you a double mail usb-c. I never liked Samsung but I don't hate them like I help hate Apple for picking up and changing its world headquarters to Ireland while everything happens here as far as decisions and they take our money and build nothing here except their office in Cupertino.

Yep that's exactly what they're doing.... and if people continue to buy Samsung, they'll just assume that the public is going to bend over and take it, and they'll continue their greedy ways. We control all of this with the way we spend our money.... so if someone continues buying Samsung knowing this, they have no room to complain ;)

I have the fast charging option turned off in my settings and always have. The reason is I feel that a regular charge rate might not wear out the battery as quickly. I've never read any scientific test about this, just my theory.

As it is, a fully charged battery on my S21U lasts 4+ days with low to medium use. I put it on the wireless charger stand when I go to bed on the day I want to recharge it and it's back to 100% by the next morning. I do not need fast charging.

Counterpoint. All wireless chargers generate heat, and heat is bad for lithium batteries. By fast charging, you limit the time you expose the battery to higher temperatures and prolong the life of the battery.

What's your screen on time after those 4 days?

EDIT: I've just given myself an idea... I'm thinking it's possible that fast charging on high wattage chargers*without fans* has somehow been disabled, likely to prevent battery damage and risk of fire... If correct, I don't know *how* this is detected, and it should have been communicated to users... But it seems plausible (to me, the person that thought of it lol).

But charging at a faster rate would in theory generate higher temp heat. This current screenshot is after 3 days, 9 hours since it was last on the charger. Still has over 20 hours left. Where would I check the total screen time?
