Wireless tether for root not working?

Has anyone gotten the wireless tether app to work on their DINC?
I have a rooted deodexed 2.2 and that's about it. Am I missing something here?
The laptop will see my network name, but will just say its unable to connect to it after a little bit of hanging

Look online for a version of the APK. I don't have time to find the link but I know the version in the app store is an old version and did not work for me either.

I downloaded the version from the website and then changed the SSID and it all works great for me now.

I was having the same issue using version 2.0.2 (in the Market), found a link to 2.0.5 and it's working great.

I tried using the pre7 and pre9 apk and when I do use it, I get an error message. When I use the download from the market it shows on my computer's wireless connections but it will not connect to it. I'm rooted on 2.2 with S-off and King Kernel #1.

I also have the newest prek9 version. it connects and recognizes the phone but it says no internet ACCESS. what do I need to do now?

try changing the SSID - for some reason I had to do that to get it to work for me.
