With all the complaining, I have something to add...

...I love this thing. I have the new IPad, Xoom, transformer prime, and galaxy nexus. I've use every one of them to death. The Xoom is my work tablet, the IPad is for games and media consumption, And the Transformer is my on the road work horse. Its only been a few days, but I love this device. Its way better for playing games than any of my other devices. The build quality is amazing for the money spent. I just can't put it down. I find myself finding reasons to use it.
This may be the tablet that finally keeps me using one device. One thing Apple wins at is the apps and games selection. It also has a better screen, but not $250 better. This is just the beginning. I would've paid more for this device any day. This is one of the best devices I have ever owned. I can't wait until next years Nexus tablet.

Totally agree with you on that.

I love it too!! Initially, I thought I would keep my kindle fire for one game, but after about 30 seconds with this device I started making the KF ready to give to my mother who will love it. If Amazon makes a competitive device I will buy another KF just because I have room in my life for both.

Great to hear, I was between a Galaxy 2.7 and this due to SDCard issue, but with a little memory management it sounds like everything else makes it worth it.

Im really glad to hear it! Makes me even more anxious to receive mine!

I agree that the N7 is great. But the whole experience has left a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to dealing with Google.

Agree this is a great tablet. Although to me its main down fall is ram! Why couldn't they put more ram in this thing? I mean come on, my gs3 has more ram. Other than that this is a great piece especially for 250 bucks.

Thanks for the info. I have almost the same collection of tablets you do, except I don't have the prime, just the transformer Pad tf300 with keyboard dock. From the videos I've seen, the N7 looks like it will be a great tablet.

You mean, the newest top of the line android phone that costs $600 unsubsidized has a feature that almost nothing else on the market has, and a $250 tablet does not? I don't think that's a "come on" problem.

Agreed but. Quad core with no ram? They could have put apple in the ground! Honestly. And 1 more gig of ram in the quantity they buy them at would be a few dollars.

I understand what you mean about the cost of adding a little more but, I think it's the software (jellybean) that makes it a great tablet.

Also, I honestly don't see most people
using the full 1gig of ram. Maybe that's something they will add though if they decide to make a nexus 10 or something in the coming months. I would love that but its in no way going to effect my desire to purchase this. I wish they had a true release date for purchase. Without pre ordering.

I don't know a few dollars is right, let's say $10 for low power DDR2. I'm also going to make the assumption that the cost to make the N7 8GB is around $185 (including all the non-hardware costs). The reason I make that assumption is, all retailers are only selling the 16Gb version, so that's probably the only version that has enough of a profit margin for the retailer to dip into. That only leaves $15 in profit to Google per device, if that. An extra gig of ram would massively cut into that. When you think in percentages, that extra gig probably would have been hard to put in there.

Now, that $15 is a guess. However, the point remains the same. The cost of buying a 2Gb ram stick vs 1Gb is probably a fair percentage of their profit (or even a large increase in loss).

Your probably exactly right and I still think its a great tablet hell for even twice the money but I'm just saying that ram would be my only wish. I did the profit margin was over slim, I want to say CNET said that it costs 165 or so to make this in parts alone so there isn't a real big profit in the device.

I agree I love the tablet. I honestly think this is the best tablet i have owned. I owned a Sony tablet s first and that was okay. The design was mediocre. But it performed fast moving through the os. Then I got a Samsung Galaxy tab 8.9. That had a nice design and great screen. It wasn't as fast as the Sony tablet moving through the is but the gaming performance was better which was odd. This has a great design overall and jellybean is so far the best version of android yet. Very smooth and buttery. I am impressed. Games perform great. I like that Google is getting more into content consumption which is great.
